... but, but, but they said it wouldn't go up until next week! I expected to have the weekend to work myself up for this! I still need to [XYZ]!

I'M NOT READY!

*hyperventilates*

Er. Since when did download.com start publishing standard submissions same-day?

Pardon me, I'm off to go hang myself. :)

It's happened to me too. They seem to post software in batches and sometimes the standard submissions make it in. So make sure you have all the necessary infrastructure up as you will most probably have a big surge of downloads and :) hopefully sales in the first week.

So, what's the link? :) Or at least the name?

enh, I'm generally trying to keep quiet until I stop having the running-around-panicking feeling. :)

but if you MUST see:

There is a sale link up, but it's only the special preview you only know about this if I told you personally version, at discounted price. which I'm now trying to fix. :)

Feel free to redirect your download link to any of our games while you finish XYZ.

My test report for the version I downloaded from download.com yesterday:

1) The program link in the start menu doesn't work (it links to charm.exe instead of charmdemo.exe).
2) The installer should create a shortcut on the desktop (my start menu is so cluttered - mainly with shareware game demos :) I dread to venture there).
3) It took me three tries to figure out how to play the cafe game - until I noticed how the orders work. It may have been just my stupidity though. Perhaps the orders of the people in the cafe could be made more easy to notice: place the orders above the people, animate them a bit or add speaking bubbles around them...
4) I bug-zapped the fairy princess the first time I saw her :)
5) The disk arcade is taking too long sometimes. Can the disk lose some speed at each bump?
6) The fair has four events - I would like that in the full version the player can choose two activities instead of just one (for a total of 6 possible choices instead of just four). One activity in the demo version is good though.
7) During the bug-zap game I press space a lot. But space also clears the message box telling me how much gold I've won. I think the messagebox should only be cleared with enter - so I get a chance to see my reward. This goes for a lot of other games too.
8) There should definitely be a play again button on the final screen.
9) Alt-Tab should minimize the game and restore the display settings before I launched the game. (Even so, the game is pretty alt-tab friendly - I guess you don't use a fullscreen exclusive mode)
10) The animation speed settings should be saved and restored the next time I launch the game.
11) On the final screen, if I click on the girls dialogue messagebox, in the same spot as the 'buy now' button, the button will be pressed, and the game will quit and the buy webpage will pop.

hmm, I've just listed Torpedo on download.com yesterday ($79 listing) and according to my logs it was put on within around 5 hours or so. Maybe CNet are having a sparse period at the moment?

Woot! Sale! I'd say party at my place, but I'm recovering from the incredibly bad idea of trying to go furniture shopping in Brighton in a heat wave on Pride parade day.

Maybe download.com has a smaller backlog because people are holding releases for the beginning of the fall school semester? (In porn, at least, the 'summer slump' is attributed to college kids being home, and sales generally spike nicely in september. Or so I'm told.)

Diodor - Thanks for the notes, GAH for getting my demo link wrong! Unfortunately I can't do a thing about the alt-tab issue - I'm actually using a game creation tool and don't have controls for that. :)

Hi, what tool are you using? Games like this are intriguing - especially since they are so "non-traditional"
