Howdy!

If anyone has some spare time on their hands would you mind downloading the demo of Power Mad and giving me your 2 cents on it?

http://www.gamethoughts.com/powermad/download.asp

We are getting sales but based on the high amount of traffic our conversion rate could be better. I've been planning to write an update patch so I would love to hear any ideas or recommendations you have for the game or the demo. Be as brutally honest as you can ;)

Thanks!

I actually enjoyed the game when I played it awhile back.

I would have almost considering getting it, but I felt the asking price of $19.95 was a bit much.
While I do not know if this is the problem that has caused low conversion, I see this more in the $14.95 range.

As for ways for improvement, perhaps it needs a bit more depth. The framework is great, but I feel that it needs a new element that adds alittle more substance.

If I put my finger on exactly what that should be, Ill let you know ;)

I would add a big "Start" and a big "Quick Start" ( picks 4 guys randomly and launch the game ) button.

Took me 3 minutes to understand how to start a game :s ( i'm a non english native so it has to be intuitive ) I'm sure a lot non english native can't pass the main menu.

What we've got here is basically a board game, and I think what you need to do is pinch some classic ideas out of real board games. One of the best ideas in real board games is to have a pile of cards with Strange Events or somesuch. It provides random amusement throughout the game which changes the strategy in unforseen ways. Even better if you can somehow get the events to interact in complex ways.

* The maps switching all the time is confusing. I'd prefer if the whole world map was visible at once
* Give the cities names, to be able to more easily identify them
* Some kind of tutorial?

Maybe offtopic, but it took me a while and some curiosity to find out that your Power Mad and Small Rocket's Mad aren't the same game. Both are about thermonuclear warfare. I guess someone sees the name, sees the description, and mistakenly thinks he already played {your, their} game.

Thanks for the feedback.

The request for more depth seems to be the most common response I get. We might start playing with the price although it doesn't seem to have affected the conversion rate (our introductory price was $14.95). I'm adding a multiplayer component that will hopefully make people feel they're getting better value.

I thought the instructions included in the game would be enough but if you're saying it's still confusing then I suppose I could include an in-game advisor or tutorial.

I never even thought about Small Rocket's game - good point.

Thanks again!
