Thanks everyone!

It's been pretty exciting. I had a lot of fun, and learned a lot, writing the book.

True indie developer that I am...I keep wanting to do an "incremental update" to the book...release a new build incorporating user feedback and new thoughts...but, no. That's not really an option. At least for a couple years. :)

Have fun!

David,

You might want to check with Amazon. They apparently aren't taking orders for it yet. However Barnes and Noble is.

Be warned, make sure all your data is correct on Amazon early. My publisher put up bad information about my book and it took Amazon months to fix the error.

Looking forward to reading this one.

Congrats, David!

@Dragon Keeper: My book? I decided not to write one, at least not in the near future. The opportunity cost is simply too high.

Just went to pick up a copy at Barnes & Nobles here in Wichita. Unluckly, it's not in stock, but they could order it for me. Bummer.

Amazon delivered it to me a few days ago. I think you've saved me about two years of experience gathering. This is really good stuff :)

Yep, I've been reading it for a while now. Though I haven't read the whole thing yet, it's looking very comprehensive. Definitely a must have for any aspiring indie game developer. It does have spelling/grammar errors here and there though. I've been keeping track of the ones I noticed, and I'll send ya an email with the list when I'm done with the book, David. :)

Yes, this is my first book. I started writing the main text a year ago this month.

I had the idea after GDC 2002, but sat on it for 4 months before putting the pitch together and sending it to Charles River Media. I still kick myself for waiting the 4 months. Sitting on a good idea is just stupid.

Thanks...I think...I blame the copyeditor, of course... ;-)

I've never been called a "magnificent bastard" before. I have recorded that in my journal for today. :)

Thanks again, everyone. Enjoy the book!

Aha! You should've let me proofread it. :) And then you'd have two people to blame! ;)

I've got mine and I'm already half way through it. So far I think it's really great. My favorite part so far is the chapters on choosing a game to do. It was really nice to have a really knolledgable run-down on all the genres indies are working in and the challenges and benefits each. As well as some really concrete ideas on how a person could approach innovating in those areas. That part really got me thinking.

Congradulations David! Great work!

Oh man!

I haven't fallen out of my chair in a long time....that's hillarious!

David, I would so absolutely put that on the cover of the 2nd edition!

"You magificent bastard!" -Ratboy
ROTFLMAO!!!

Oh, and congratulations! I'm definitely going to order me a copy next payday. It's also inspired me to dust off my book idea that's been sleeping for a few months and try to resurrect it.
