This is a story I've been working on the past couple weeks, it's not game related in anyway, I just enjoy wiriting it :)
This is only the beginning, and I'll post more chapters as I finish them ;)
Well, here we go:
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER TYPE THINGY!
Evil's Reign is a very dark story, it involves some very disturbing killings, and some very evil things. If you are highly religious, scare easy, or don't like reading things that aren't happy, I suggest you skip this!
Chapter 1: Revelation
As I lay there gasping for air in a puddle of my own blood, I wondered how I had
got here. What had caused me to do the things I did, and why I let it. Out of
the corner of my eye, I saw my enemy raise his gun to my head and pull the
trigger. Suddenly, the whole world seemed to slow down, I saw the metal bullet
reflect the rain falling outside. I saw it slowly spinning, coming right for me.
I closed my eyes and waited for it all to end. I thought about what had happened
to me in the last 3 months, and whether anyone else would ever hear my story. I
went through it my head over, and over again. Thinking where I went wrong, what
I had lost, and what I wished I had done. Every time I ended with the same
answer, "Don't take the shortcut home".
The date was March 18, 2015, it had been a long hard day, and I wanted to go
home and get some sleep. I was walking home, and decided to take a shortcut
through an abandoned train station to trim some time from my commute. I heard a
crash of thunder, and it began to rain. I ran under the nearest roof and sat
down on an old bench. While I was waiting for the rain to let up, I heard a
strange noise behind me. I jumped up and spun around, but there was nothing
there, or at least nothing I could see at the time. I sat back down and calmed
myself. A few minutes later, I heard the noise again. I turned around and called
out, "Is someone there?" but no one answered. The rain had begun to calm, so I
was getting ready to leave. Then, out of nowhere, a man was standing in front of
me. I gasped in fright, and almost hit my head on the back of the bench. He
seemed to take no notice of me; he just stood there staring. He was around six
feet tall, and looked very fit. It appeared as if he was wearing jeans, and a
jacket, but it was to dark to be sure. I finally rustled up some courage, and
spoke, "H-Hello?" I stuttered. He paid no attention to me at all. "Is there
something I can do for you?" I asked, this time he responded, "Yes." he had a
horrible low growling voice. He took a step closer, and I could see his face. It
appeared as if he had red eyes! He slowly opened his mouth, and said, "I'm
hungry." in that strange voice of his. "Well, I can get you some food." I
responded, "You are my food!" he growled. This had me very scared. I was stuck
in an abandoned train station with some psycho, who I had a very strong feeling
was going to kill me. "W-What do you mean by that?" I asked. Suddenly he jumped
up in the air, and landed right in front of me! He grabbed my head, turned it to
the left, and bit my neck! It felt as if I was being stuck with two long
needles, and it hurt behind description. I screamed, and flailed wildly, but he
just held on and dug his teeth into me. After about thirty seconds of unbearable
pain, he let go and ran off. I laid there for what felt like forever. Blood
slowly dripping out of my neck on to the ground, I tried to work out what had
just happened to me in my head. The world began to fade to black, and I passed
out.
I slowly opened my eyes, and saw a bright white light. I quickly shut my eyes,
and groaned in pain. I went to put my hands over my eyes, but discovered they
where strapped down! I opened my eyes again, and looked around, it appeared that
I was in a hospital. My skin felt hot, and I was VERY thirsty. I called,
"Hello?" and a nurse came into the room. "Well, looks like your finally awake."
She said as she read the chart at the foot of my bed. "What am I doing here?" I
asked, "Well" she began," you where found half dead in the old train station by
officer Marlow, who called an ambulance." She explained. "Do you remember what
happened to you?" she asked me, "Can I please have some water?" I pleaded. She
undid my arm straps, and handed me a glass of water. I slammed it down like it
was nothing, but it had no effect on my thirst. Not wanting to sound rude, I set
the glass down and pretended to be fine. "What where you asking?" I said, "Do
you remember what happened to you?" she asked again, "No… no I don't remember
anything." I responded. I did remember everything, but I didn't believe it
myself, so I knew they wouldn't. "All right, well just push this button if you
need anything." She said, "Can you please turn these lights of?" I asked. She
walked over to the door and flicked the light switch, "Thanks." I said. She
smiled and walked out.
Lying there I thought about what was going on, how I was attacked in the
station, and my strange thirst. I also noticed that my skin had stopped burning
as soon as the lights had been off. I got up, and walked over to the mirror. I
looked extremely pale in my reflection, and then I noticed it. My mouth appeared
to be slightly higher then it normally was, I slowly opened my mouth, and saw
something that scared me to death. My two front incisors where twice as long as
they used to be, and they where perfectly pointed into sharp needle like teeth.
I closed my mouth and fell back onto my bed. What was happening to me! The nurse
came back in, and turned the light on, I called out in pain, and she quickly
turned them off again, "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" she gasped. I stood there in
the corner, half blinded by the light. What had happened to me? The nurse slowly
walked over, "Let's get you back into bed, ok?" she said sweetly. I grabbed her
head, twisted it to the side, and dug my teeth deep inside her necked. I could
feel her blood rushing into my mouth, and it tasted so good. After a couple
minutes I let her go, she fell to the ground, dead.
"Oh my God, oh my God." I whispered to my self, what had I done? I didn't even
know what was happening, I just snapped and killed her. I panicked, and ran out
of the room. I ran down the hospital halls slamming into doctors and nurses,
until I found the exit. I ran outside, and heard a woman scream; they had found
the dead nurse. It was late at night, and very dark. I could barely see my hand
in front of face, half due to the dark, and half due to my extreme amount of
stress. I ran down a taxi, and had it take me home.
As soon as I got inside, I fell back on my door and slid down to the floor.
There I sat crying, as the full impact of what had just happened hit me. I heard
the sirens of police cars and ambulances outside. What was I to do? I just
killed someone, in cold blood, and I didn't know why! I was scared, and I didn't
have anyplace to go… so I sat there, all alone, trying to figure out the
situation.
Chapter 2: Reckoning
I had a very serious problem, and no solution. I knew that sitting around wasn't
to going to solve anything, so I raised myself up to my feet, and wiped my eyes
of the tears. To solve this problem, I first needed to understand it.
I walked over the to the library, obviously it was closed at this time, but I
worked there so I had a key to get in. I began looking through all the legends
and myth books I could find, trying to find some sort of creature that matched
my new being. I found writings of "Werewolves" strange half man half wolf
creatures who could pass there curse onto another by biting them, but it said
nothing of a need to drink blood, or the horrible pain caused by light. It also
said that Werewolves would only come out when there was a full moon, which was
not my case. So I continued my search. I found one book on "Vampires", and was
both thrilled, and horrified by what it contained. It said that Vampires could
not handle direct light, especially sunlight. It also said that they needed to
drink blood in order to sustain their life, and that they reproduced by
infecting other humans. It did not however explain how this "infecting" process
worked. It also had a list of vampire weaknesses, light, water, crosses, garlic,
and impalement. I knew for a fact that crosses, garlic, and water where not
harmful, as I had come in contact with all of them at the hospital. However,
light did seem to affect me, and impalement was not something I was eager to
test. The book went on to explain that vampires had superhuman abilities; such
as the ability to jump great heights & distances, as well as the ability to
instantly heal any non-fatal wound. This greatly intrigued me. I went into the
middle of the library, and attempted to jump to the other side. I counted to
three, and jumped. To my surprise, I glided across the whole library and landed
more then 40 feet from where I jumped! I was almost beginning to like this
"curse". I then walked over to the main desk, and pulled out the letter opener.
I was very concerned about what I was about to do, but I had to know. I took the
letter opener, and slit my hand straight down the middle. Strangely, no blood
came out of my hand, and after three seconds, the wound sealed itself up! I was
so amazed I fell back into a chair and sat there gasping for air. I was a super-
hero!
I ran back over to the book I was reading and continued gaining knowledge about
my new powers. Towards the end I discovered something rather disturbing… A
chapter entitled, "Vampire Hunters". It seemed as if there was an elite group of
humans who had sworn to hunting down and destroying every vampire on the planet.
This caused a great deal of distress to rise up in me. Surely this was no more
true then the crosses and garlic mumbo-jumbo that I had read previously. Yet, I
had a strange feeling that it was true. I sat down at a desk and thought about
what I was going to do with my life now that I was a super-human. Would I become
a crime-fighting super-hero, or could I use my powers to increase my own
personal worth? These thoughts filled my mind as I sat there. Suddenly I had a
horrible stinging pain in my stomach, "Gah!" I gasped as I bent over holding my
stomach. I had forgotten about the one little side effect to my new being… the
need to feed. I didn't want to kill anyone else, but I needed human blood.
Slowly I got up and left the library, every step I took outside of those walls
was step closer to some unsuspecting person's death. I was scared for what I
might do, whom I might find… and kill. I began walking back towards my house and
then it happened, a late night jogger ran into me. We both fell back, but
quickly got up, he brushed himself off and said, "I'm sorry, man. I didn't even
see you!" in a hurried and somewhat frightened tone of voice. I was fighting an
immense urge and mumbled, "It's alright.". He tried to go past me, but I
wouldn't let him go, "Hey man, let me go!" he shouted. I couldn't handle it
anymore, I grabbed him and dragged him into a nearby alley, he tried to yell for
help but I muffled his mouth with my hand. I said, "I'm sorry" as I dug my teeth
into his neck and drank his blood. He screamed and squirmed for about 20
seconds, and then he went silent. I dropped his dead corpse in the alley and ran
the rest of the way home.
It was 6:45am, March 19, 2015. The sun would be rising any minute. For the first
time in over 20 hours I was tired. In fact I was so tired the whole world seemed
nothing more then a blur. I stumbled around my house to my bed, and lay down. I
was just about to fall fast asleep when I noticed a problem. My bed was located
directly under a window! If I where to sleep here, I would be killed by the suns
rays! I quickly got up, and tried to find a solution to this problem. My bed was
to big to fit out the door, and the sun would up before I had to disassemble it.
I ran out into my garage, and grabbed a hammer, a box of nails, and large piece
of plywood. I ran back into my room and boarded up my window. Now I could sleep
in piece, and I did.
This is only the beginning, and I'll post more chapters as I finish them ;)
