All PopCap's online versions of their games are made in Java

Hmm your right, my mistake.

On every system I've setup I've had to download Flash on IE, which was always an instant download for some reason. I'm not sure if that's because the Flash plugin is small or if they already have some files ship with IE. Shockwave takes forever to install though. People seem to have no problem installing plugins. Most of the people afraid of them also know what Flash is and will install it. The majority of people continue to have no problem installing anything that is easy to install, hence the problem with spyware. I would be more concerned with Flash being very slow on older computer.

Whats the difference between flash and shockwave?(from Macromedia.com)

What is the difference between the Macromedia Flash Player and the Shockwave Player?
The Macromedia Flash Player and the Shockwave Player are both free web players from Macromedia. Each has a distinct purpose: The Macromedia Flash Player displays content created with Macromedia Flash such as web application front-ends, high-impact website user interfaces, interactive online advertising, and short-form to long-form animation.

The Shockwave Player displays content created with Macromedia Director such as high-performance multi-user games, interactive 3D product simulations, online entertainment, and training applications. By using Xtra extensions, developers can extend the capabilities of the Shockwave Player to play back custom-built applications
Flash Player Size: 405k

Shockwave Player Size: 3,552k
