We submitted a small pile of projects to the Independent Games Festival this year, including our current "actual" project aimed at market. The others projects were essentially hobby projects done on the side. Currently, 4/5 of our submissions are available in some form or another:

Beesly's Buzzwords (our casual market project):
http://www.flashbangstudios.biz/buzzwords

Smallball (two-player volleyball-esque game):
http://www.flashbangstudios.biz/smallball/

I Hate Clowns (joke that went a few steps too far, but great fun):
http://www.flashbangstudios.biz/ihateclowns/

Sprinky (physics-based game experiment of mine):
http://www.flashbangstudios.biz/sprinky/

The hardware requirements are obviously in the IGF entry information, but I didn't carry them over to the project pages. Basically, Buzzwords is low-end, Smallball/Sprinky is mid-level, and Clowns requires a higher-end machine.

I'd love to hear feedback on any of them, and particularly on Buzzwords. I highly recommend trying Smallball two-player, it totally suprised us during development.

Did anyone else submit anything? I'm always curious what sorts of projects are submitted, as a lot of the entries usually don't have a webpage (or screens/demo download/etc if they do). We actually a created a project specifically for the IGF last year (http://www.muridaemassacre.com/screens/screens.html); this year we basically submitted what we had lying around at the time.

Tried to play it, clicked on the screen throwing pies but...
they flew on the surface and bounced? dunno, but i dont see any logic in the way they fly, i cant see even where the pies are coming or have a decent guess where they head to...

They float, They all float...

gilzu: Try refreshing and playing again...I've had wierd reports of aiming problems from users who play on a fresh install. No idea why, trying to reproduce it here so I can fix it...

Looks like a bug on Virtools' end with the web player. I get the same problems--broken aiming--if I delete my web player directory and play immediately after installation. Sigh...suppose it comes with the territory of using a platform/middleware solution.

So I played the games for the last few hours. At first i really didn't like any of them (especially the clown one), but after a couple hours I really started to enjoy myself. I beat 'I Hate Clowns,' as much as you can beat it that is. 9999 points?! hehe My roommate started watching me play it once i got to level 20 or so.. the amount of strategy is pretty fun. Certainly a deeper game that it appears to be at first.

Beesly was a lot of fun, and my roomie and I got to season 9 before losing. Although, i think it would be cool if you could add pop culture words. I saw 'Shizzle" pop up a couple times, and I missed out on big points when it didn't want to count "beyotch."

Sprinky just frustrated me to no end. I couldn't get past the first area, so I'm not sure how much fun the rest of the game is.. ahh well.

So what's up with still being an egg with almost 300,000 points on level 15? http://voltaic.thcnet.net/misc/egg_wtf.jpg

Also, in I Hate Clowns, any chance of getting a "total points" displayed on each clown level? It would be nice to know how many points you got beyond what is required to "beat" the level.

Whoops, sorry about the Egg ranking. Apparently I only thought to include ranks for 14 year in the web version. It's been awhile since we worked on it, we switched development over to the standalone some weeks ago (I PM'ed you a link to the standalone version we submitted to the IGF, if you'd like to check that out).

And on Clowns, that's probably something we'll add, as I've had that request from some other people we pasted it to. Should have a newer version done soon, with some more stuff (actual level geometry/art, other items for bonus points, gimmick rounds like firing clowns at pies, skill-scrane bonus stage, etc).

Thanks for that! I've been really tearing it up at the attack mode, lots of fun!
