My wife and I have played a number of XBox games (we got the system as soon as it came out), but we haven't found any that offer the same level of fun as the 2-player experience of Halo. We've beaten the game multiple times at every difficulty level, and we're looking for something new, preferably an FPS where two players can play cooperatively. Any suggestions?
Aside from Halo, I've also finished Max Payne and Star Wars Starfighter, but those didn't feel quite as fun. Max Payne in particular was very tedious because of the excessively frequent (and slow) loading times. I also quite enjoyed Star Wars Obi Wan, but I found the game rather buggy. On one level with a large body of water, the scene rendering kept glitching badly, and my character would be swimming in mid-air.

The game i've enjoyed the most outside of Halo is "Spiderman the movie", it's suprisingly fun for a movie franchise game. It even has bruce camble narrate the tutorial. It's single player but you can beat the game in a day so there should be plenty of time for folks to take turns.
I've heard "Dead to Rights" is quite fun as well. That's the one I'm proably going to be picking up next. It has max payne style gameplay but it was designed for the Xbox, where as MaxPayne was designed for the PC. It's a little violent but as long as your not of an impressionable age I'm sure it will be fine. It does some really cool things by mixing hand to hand melee combat and pixtols into some bizzare martial art form that could only originate from gaming or hollywood. :)

I tried Spiderman on XBox and passed the first couple levels, but I found the gameplay rather uninspired. One game I enjoyed quite a bit though was Simpsons Road Rash. Normally I don't play racing games, but I thought this one had a unique twist that made it pretty fun.
I'll have to give Dead to Rights a try.

Yeah spiderman ("Spiderman the Movie" not the other spiderman game that's available) didn't get fun until you got out swinging around the city and fighting green goblin. You could actually land on his glider and start punching him and stuff. I thought it was a blast, but my opinion was probably tainted because I was a big spiderman fan as a kid. :D
If you liked Simpson's Road Rage, you should love Crazy Taxi.. isnt' part 3 coming it Xbox?
I played the first one to death on Dreamcast, and my wife played this one a lot as well. We'd take turns playing 3 and 5 minute games, trying to top each other's scores. Its not 2 player simultaneous, but it can be fun for 2 players. And I always thought that it was as much fun to watch as it was to play. There are lots of bright colors and interesting scenery, and pedestrians diving out of the way, and phone booths to plow thru...
Crazy Taxi, IMO, did an excellent job of executing an old school arcade design, with new technology, in modern setting, with lots of style an attitude. I'm a big Simpson's fan, but I've not tried Road Rage yet because I heard it was just a watered down Crazy Taxi. I consider these to be more like an arcade game, than a racing game.

My roommate and I got hooked on Outlaw Golf for quite a while. Sure, it sounds like a cheezy game and all but it was extremely fun. Well worth renting in my opinion. And you don't even have to be a fan of golding to enjoy it.

Robotech: Battlecry is pretty fun in the 2-player vs. mode. Single player is fun too, even though the game's interface doesn't give you much of a clue as to how you're doing until you either win a mission or fail it.

I still consider this question open. I always keep a sharp eye open for the possiblilty of co-op gaming. It is my favourite. Timesplitters 2 is out now. It has a co-op mode. I haven't tried it yet, but I know the first one had the potential in that area. So Steve, have you played Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance? I played it recently on the PS2 and it was one of the best co-op games I ever played! It has so many rare items that you can collect or buy. One of the best things is when you get some enchanted armor or a powerful weapon and you give it to the other player because they need it. There are so many other things too; choosing which stat to increase when you level up, new monsters, quests, etc. etc. and there are lots of save points as well. It finally gets released on the Xbox in November. You simply can't go wrong with this game.

I haven't tried BG: Dark Alliance. The XBox game I've been playing lately is Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. It has some flaws, but it's pretty fun for 2P coop play.

I've tried Dark Legacy in co-op on the PS2 which is virtually identical to the Xbox version. It was okay simply because it had co-op. I did like the music though. Some of it reminded me of the Conan soundtracks. If you think Dark Legacy was okay you should definately treat yourself and your wife to Dark Alliance. It makes Dark Legacy look like a rushed weekend project. It's that good! Also, Hunter: The Reckoning is fun in co-op too, but it can't hold a candle to DA.

I would recommend Timersplitters 2, also. It is a good FPS with a variety of gameplay modes. :)
Also, I would recommend Toe Jam & Earl 3--it is a goofy but fun game that focuses a lot on coop. You'll like it especially if you have played the other games in the series.

If you enjoyed playing Halo, then you will enjoy 007 nightfire. a little less brute force and a liitlemore technique but still a good pace and fun.:)

Defintely try X-Box Live, this thing is absolutely amazing! Playing against human opponents makes games a lot more fun.
Timesplitters2 has co-op by the way, just so you know...

I have X-Box live, but I don't have any games that work with it yet. :(
Give House Of the Dead III a try.
While the reviews have been mixed, it does have two player coop mode. Its best played with light guns as whos-crosshair-is-whos is a constant challenge when using just the gamepads.
