Spotted some indie games last weekend in the wild when I went on a little trip to our new Fry's superstore. It's in Renton, WA, just outside Seattle.
First off, this place is pretty impressive. It's like CompUSA only with much better deals, four times the selection and floor space, and much smarter sales staff.
Anyway, I took a look at the games shelves and spotted three different indie-market retailers:
eGames - one or two so-so collections
PocketWare - only one box title, but the coolest looking for sure... contains 6 mini-CDs, including two games from Cliffski.
GlobalGames (I think?) - By far the most numerous, at least 5 different box titles of various flavors. Wish I could remember their name for sure.
Anyway, it gave me the idea that it might be interesting to actually visit various stores and note exactly what they are putting on the shelves and where. I'll take better notes myself next time. Anyone else care to do this in another major city?
Places on my list to visit: EB Games, Gamestop, Target, Wal-Mart, Fred Meyer, CompUSA...
