Good Morning...
I was just wondering about press releases. I know they are really good for programs like Winzip9 and stuff.
but what about just shareware games? Will they work? what should be written in them? Will they really be published? Do you have any samples? Some sites offer writing press releases and sending them for a certain amount of money, are they good?
Gee... lot's of questions :)
I am just curious about the idea...
Thank you very much...
Yours...

Yes, they do work. What's the difference winzip or a game? You think doom 3 does not have a press release :)?

I'm sure they did. But to be 100% sure you gotta ask the owners.
From our experience I can tell that you can get a good exposure via press releases, but it matters who writes it and how. I'm currently looking for a new good service myself.

Its good generally but it's also touch n go. Depends how interested the editors are in your release and how much coverage you get. Every so often though you'll get a realy nice big blurb in a magazine and it will more than cover the cost of sending the release.

Have a look at http://www.prweb.com
It is a free press release distribution service. You can find many previous press releases for shareware games there.
