Unfortunately, I have to wait until XMas to play Mario Kart, because it's a gift for my wife. I did get to play it a few times at ToysRUs a few days ago. Lots of fun.

Speaking of productivity killers. Prince Of Persia for the Xbox destroyed my hopes of getting anything done this weekend. I bought it Saturday and beat it sometime Sunday. Great game! Combine that with Rocknor's Donut Factory for PC, watching my roommate play Devil May Cry for PS2, and the fact that I finally set up all my consoles (10+) and you can see why DIY Games has been a little dead lately :) I'm surprised I even manage to make it to work sometimes!

So I've had this un-opened copy of the Zelda game for GameCube on my shelf for a few months. Tonight I decided to go ahead and open it up and see how good it is.

A strange thing happened once I tore off the shrink wrap and opened the case. Inside I found a full size blank CD with no lable. In the place where the manual would be there were about 40 pieces of paper stapled together. That was it. I'm not even sure how to handle it at this point. But, I have to admit, I certainly admire the perps scam that got this thing into my hands. He must have did a color copy of the cover, a cheap-0 DVD case, and shrink wrapped it using a hair dryer and returned it to a game store for an exchange.

The strangeness is right up there with the time my friend found excerpts from the Terrorist's Handbook inside Eye Of The Beholder when he was trying to hex edit it.

I just finished Pikmin for the Gamecube. I think it killed about 20 hours total for me. And I *still* didn't get all 30 parts. :(

Pikmin was a hoot. I got all 30 parts on my second try. Then a couple more tries after that to do it in as few days as possible. I thought the game was very well done.

That seriously blows! I wonder what how the store would have handled that if you'd immediately returned it.

I rented it for a week and won the game twice. The second time through I tried hard to get as many parts per day as possible. I think I managed to get all 30 parts in only 11 or 12 days (apparently, 9 days is the best anyone's done). I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel.

The game inspired me to plant some pikmin in my garden this year :) (in case you didn't know, pikmin is a real flower).

Guess what the first thing I'll be doing when I get home is.

Honestly, I've got to wonder how someone pulled that off. Sorry about the bad luck.

After two weeks of crunch time for my IGF Student Showcase entry I decided to reward myself with a Gamecube this weekend, together with Zelda, Super Mario and Metroid. Up until today, I haven't been able to do anything else than play with it! Just what I needed, but I wonder how I'm ever gonna be able to focus on school when exams are coming up in a couple of weeks... :(

Oh man, tough luck dude, although I'd be more weirded out than disappointed. That's so uncommon and it's not something to be really be upset about, which you dont seem to be at all. Maybe they bought the game, but returned the original box with crap inside because its hard to photocopy those things (not talking from experience ...trust me :)).
