View Full Version : Preparing Presentations for Publishers?

Perhaps this is the question I should've asked first. Ah, well - I was tired. :)
I'm working on getting meetings with publishers at GDC. I've been calling them up, trying to reach them. (And it's a rough pitch, I can say that.)
Now that we actually have a meeting or two...I'm not quite sure what materials to put together. Do they want a game overview? Market research? Bios? History? A full manual? A quickstart?
I've no clue.
Any help's much appreciated. :)

Bring printed screenshots, they might not be able to test your game on a computer...
pat.

Obscure used to have a collection of articles about pitching a game to a publisher. I'm not sure of the exact URL, but you can search his site:

From a talk at IGC 2002 (which I quoted in my book), keep in mind that the best thing you can do is show that you and your team are "PROVEN SUCCESSFUL" in as many areas as possible:
* Completed projects.
* Industry track records.
* Experience that they are looking for.
Best of luck.

Dear David,
First off, thanks for the link to Obscure - I'll check it out.
And if I can convince the company to try the indie route, I'll definitely buy your book.
On the other hand, as for the team's credentials
-No industry track record
-No experience except general coding
-We've got one completed project in the gaming field...this game we're trying to sell them. :)
That rather makes my presentation In Trouble. :)
