Any thoughts on RegSoft vs. RegNow? They both have support for Armadillo (which I am using to allow "unlocking" the full version of my software--as well as allowing an extension of the trial period (as an exception, if necessary)).

Any others I should seriously consider? I definitely want to go with one of the bigger services--I used one once that eventually went out of business after a couple of years.

I was originally leaning towards RegNow because they seemed a little "bigger" and also because they are local to me.

However, RegSoft charges less (10% instead of 20%). Both of them don't charge for refunds (which is a requirement for me).

Thanks for any input...I need to decide soon. :)

They both seem pretty good, but the biggest advantage of RegNow is that they allow you to put the full version of the software on their server. Then a customer can download it when they buy it and you're charged 1 cent per meg transferred. This is good for games because you don't have to include the whole game with the demo, you can just have a small demo and a bigger full version. And as I understand, that means more people would download the demo.

RegSoft also doesn't say if they charge for chargebacks. Overall it seems RegNow is more straightforward about everything, though they do charge more. Well whichever you choose let us know how it goes.

RegNow offers many more "affiliate sales" options, but they take a much bigger slice of the pie.

RegSoft is great if you're selling something that costs more than $30.

Those aren't the only two options, by far. Check out this overview of payment services (http://www.blackcatsystems.com/regservices/).

Another comparison site can be found at: http://www.regshare.com/

I also found this on the RegSoft pricing page: "Chargeback and refund bank fees will be absorbed by RegSoft.com". Is that what you were after Fenix? Or did you mean something else?

I am personally thinking RegSoft at the moment.

I'm using RegSoft right now for payment processing. Thankfully the service has been excellent, and you can customize just about anything.

Having said that, RegSoft charges a $3.00 minimum. That's more then most of the competition.

If you can live with the $3.00 minimum, I fully recommend Regsoft.

I have used BMT Micro for 2 years now, and have recommended it to many developer friends, and none have ever left once they signed up :)

They have a great commission rate, an 800 number with real people, and will customize your order form for you.

They are always responsive and friendly too.

Best of all, they mail the checks at the first of the month and they're never late.

That and also refunds to the customers, RegNow says they don't charge for that. They do take a larger commission than other services but I think you get what you pay for, they do seem to offer a LOT. I think they're the only ones who have a secure download server for full versions of your software. Does anyone know of any other services that do this? It's really up to you though. Not everyone needs these things.

I started out looking into this a few weeks ago with two candidates: RegNow and esellerate. After a ton of reading and looking (the comparisons on regshare.com are great!), I'm down to... RegNow and esellerate. Ah well, I learned some things along the way. :)

I hadn't heard of esellerate, but one of the guys I'm working with pointed me to them. They look to be very good, and they have an API that allows you to put a buy screen right into the app (which assumes the user is online, but that's not too bad of an assumption). They also handle generating reg codes using multiple methods, which takes a load off of me.

RegNow's fees are a little lower, but not by much. I'm still vacillating, if you couldn't tell. If anyone has had any experience with esellerate or has other things I should consider, please let me know!

I started revisiting my old registration links and found Share-It again. They seem to have OK level of service and one thing none of the others have: they are located in Europe. I am not sure how big an issue this is but it feels like a huge step for me to use a service in the States. My lawyer always keeps reminding me of how I am going to make them rich by having a huge litigation over there. I know most of these services are reputable and probably quite honest but Germany just feels a bit safer.

My question is, for you living in USA, do you have the same psychological barrier when using a service in Europe? How about you who live in Australia, Asia, etc.. ?

Yes, a good question! I am also curious. :)
