Can anyone comment on the games banner network?

Does the traffic it brings justify signing up and putting an ad on your page.

Is anyone under the reverse impression that it detracts visitors away from your site if you have too little content?

Some in previous posts claimed that the visits they recieved were nothing compared to other sources on the internet. Im curious though. I practically recieve no traffic at all, so how much is nothing?

Tell me what you think.

Add a third option to the poll - "I haven't a clue but I'd like to know more" - 'cause that's me.

Anthony,

Did I mention hundred times before that your future game would be bought by some big publisher?

What for are you wastening your time on these marketing issues? - Publisher will make all this job instead of you. Go on and finish your game!

:D :D :D

I cant vote on this because I dont have experience with them in terms of how effective it would be, nor do I really think it is all that ugly.

I will say, as im writing this, with 5 people saying yes and 5 people saying no, this is actually a good subject to discuss!

... Wish I had something to say about it beyond that nobody really seems to know.

Well, no one seems to have too much of a collective opinion on this service, so perhaps you guys can give me collective advice?

Im a brand new startup site, and I practically get no traffic (maybe 10 visits per day) Would GBN bring more traffic to my site, or will it give people a distraction and doorway out of my site.

Basically what Im asking is, is GBN best for brand new sites that need a visitation and download boost, or is it not good for new game sites as it drives people away?

We use GBN on our site. The way it works is that you get as many displays of your ad as you display other games' ads on your site. So if you have a low traffic site, you will display very few ads and you will get few ads in return. So there's not that much risk or benefit for small sites.

We have some web games and we put the GBN banners in the web game window which gives us more displays than just having the ad on our basic pages. Also, we often get a lot of traffic to our web games from foreign sites (Israel, Brazil...)and when that happens we earn a lot of banner ad exposures.

GBN is one way to get some exposure to your site without spending cash, but you do give up some of your visitors who will wander away when they click on another ad.

Of course you can also buy ads from GBN if you have money, but don't want to drive traffic away.

Hope this helps a bit.
