Hello everyone...Just wondering if anyone happens to need any help with art for their games. I'm just working on building a portfolio, so no compensation is needed (Heck, I don't even care about royalties...) All I ask is just credit in the game, so later on when I'm looking for a paying job they can see that I DO have some work experience!

I'm especially interested in any texture making...But just about anything working with 2D art is good! I also animate with poser, if you need any basic 3D character design/animation. Still learning Maya, as I'm a college student right now, so no promises if that's what you need, but I'll gladly give it a shot.

You can see some of my Photoshop work at

wow! you are very talented!
your works are too seriuos for my projects, but is there any way we could use one of your images in our game? I like the one with the wolf - an awesome work!

Sure! That would be great =D

I CAN do less serious stuff...I just use that gallery to post more artistic pictures. Photoshop is my proverbial playground, and I spends as much time possible playing ^_^

BTW where _do_ folks go to find art talent for their games? I've been scanning a few artist community sites like deviantart.com gfxartist.com and ocad.syste.ms , but is there some gaming/artist site that brings together artists with developers?

Replied, Xfire :)

Well Triptych, there are places like ELance, but they're a waste of money, IMHO.

Hey, Kielso...are you familiar with Max? I am currently doing a number of small retro-oriented games that are heavy on 2D artwork, but the 2D frames are typically rendered to give the games a semi-realistic look. (You could use Maya, as long as you could match the game's current look and generate targa output files with associated alpha channel information.)

If you're interested and give me your email address, I can send you links to some screenshots of the games (they're under wraps until next month when the website goes live.)

To be honest, I've not played around with Max much, but have been needing to. I can take a look at the screen shots and see what I can do, though :)

Hey there, Kielso - are you still looking to help out artistically on projects? If you are, then I have a need that would be right up your street (given the examples on your site).

I'm working on a project at the moment and want to add intro, game over and game win sequences. I intend to do these in a style not dissimilar to Max Payne's story (if you haven't played it, then the story is told as a series of comic book style screens but drawn in a stylistic but quite realistic fashion, where each box fades in as the story progresses). I am able to do this myself, but alas my artistic abilities are not that refined - so it will take me ages to do them and take away from the time I can spend developing the game.

If you are still available, I could send you more info, the story designs, some basic storyboards, some sketches for rough ideas, etc. Naturally I would give full credits both in the game, on my site and in readme's etc. I could even list you as Lead Artist if you like :)

I wouldn't waste your time hitting him up for art.

We had an email exchange a month ago, and the last I heard, he was going to send me something "tomorrow or the day after."

Thanks for the heads up Roulette.

Oh well, looks like it's time to see if I can remember which end of the pencil goes on the paper....
