Been very busy the past few weeks and after a huge productivity binge today I'm ready to get some criticism on finished stuff :D Two of the projects that I've recently completed are new websites for Lizardsoft Hosting and the main Lizardsoft.com site and I'm looking for feedback on both (more so on the hosting one):

Lizardsoft.com (http://www.lizardsoft.com)
The main company site. Since everything we do tends to get its own site, the company site is mostly links to other sites. After analyzing where traffic for lizardsoft.com is coming from, I rearranged the site to provide quick access to the most demanded stuff. The only thing that is actually hosted directly on ls.com is the emoticon installer. Just released the site today, so a fresh pair of eyes would be great.

Lizardsoft Hosting (http://www.lizardnetwork.com)
This site was launched Jan 14 and is undergoing constant improvements and touch-ups. Doing surprisingly well with nearly no marketting. Looking mostly for suggestions on improving the content (ie. what more can be done to explain convincingly why Lizardsoft Hosting should be your host), but design-related suggestions are welcome too!

Thanks guys.

The Lizardsoft Hosting site looks clean, and is informative. Minor point: you might make the LizardSoft logo link back to the LizardNetwork homepage. Also, under "all scripts include," the formatting for "Free Script Library" looks odd, (i.e., there are a number of spaces present between the words).

The lizardsoft.com index.html page is somewhat confusing, in that you have a screenshot of Custombar visible. It looks like part of the Web interface rather than a screenshot; I initially tried clicking on "Dictionary" to see what it took me to.

Thanks MiceHead. Regarding the Free Script Library looking odd, could you tell me what browser you are using, if you have any special visual changes enabled (like larger font-size) and if at all possible, a screenshot?

The logo is already linked to lizardnetwork.com so I'm not clear on what the problem is there. Are you talking about the top left logo?

The CustomBar looking like part of the GUI is quite amusing :D Thanks for pointing that out, I might change the screenshot a bit to make it look less "usuable".

http://www.lizardnetwork.com/ is placed on system background.
(grey color in my case for example)
All pictures and logos are with white background. So, probably it should have white packground for the whole page?

Hope this helps,

I see -- these look to both be Mozilla peculiarities, so perhaps they're not so important. The former is showing up as "- Free (space space space) Script (space space space) Library," and in the latter case, only the top half of the image can be clicked.

Very weird; but they both look fine under IE.

WhiteSnake - thanks, background now fixed.

Micehead - The top logo is interesting, I tried fixing it but Mozilla seems to refuse to acknowledge that area of the screen as being part of the image. I thought it was a case of layers overlapping, but it doesn't seem to be. I'll fix it if I come across a solution.

I can't reproduce the Free Scripts problem though, here's how the page looks in my Mozilla: http://www.lizardsoft.biz/temp/mozlsh.png It's probably an easy fix, but I need to see how it looks on yours. I did change on property in a blind attempt at a fix, but I doubt it helped your problem.

Using Mozilla 1.6. Curiously, the "Raw Log Access" text also appears that way, when I bump the text size up. Bringing it all the way down doesn't fix it for the other text.

Lizardsoft,

I'm Wild not White snake. :D Andy really ;)

Please forgive me my annoyity. But htp://www.lizardnetwork.com/ still have grey background on my system.

I mean you had changed it on white in tables but it is still system background around.

I have several another suggestions as well. But let we start from this one. :)

MiceHead - thanks, I'll have to download 1.6 to test that out.

Andy - I THINK it's fixed now, I changed the wrong entry in the stylesheet (doh!). Would love to hear the other suggestions :) Also curious what browser you are using.

Finally! :D

Yes, it is fixed now.
Browser - very standard IE 6.0.2800.1106
System Win2K - we prefer not to move early on new systems while the main banch of bugs still is not fixed :)

Suggestions?
Well. Of course I'm not any way online marketing guy so all my opinions are appearing mostly from my own experiences with another sites and the way I accept them. OK?

So, about lizardnetwork site again. I'm afraid you're pushing to order too quickly. I suppose that choosing of good hosting is a little bit diffenrense than sudden buy of fun game (for example).
That's why I suppose it would be better (and I was expecting this when I was visiting your site) to have additional page between start page and order form. Some page where you will explain in details what your future customers will receive for their money - I'd repeat there - details "All packages include" for concrete plan. Otherwise there appearing strong feeling that you are trying cheat me and push to order without explaining ALL necessary details.

Right side of starting page ("All packages include" area) really just kind of very "optional" area at most sites. (Banners, customers saying, etc.) You are saying about very important information there. As result it appears as kind of hidden for me...

One more time - just my two cents!
Hope this helps (to waste few more of your time :D )

I was just thinking of adding more package info (specifically updating the Virtual packages page). We do provide a lot more information, and it is placed on the left navbar, so the info is there. How to make it more visible is a tough question. The reseller box already links to a Reseller Information page, but as you pointed out, the virtual packages link to the order form. I'm hesistant to remove the order now links, since I don't want to make it difficult for someone that has come to the page with the intention to order. What if I change the Welcome to Lizardsoft Hosting at the top to somehow link to more information on virtual packages, our facilities, etc?

Thanks for sharing your experience with the site, it's greatly informative to know how a first time viewer sees it!

No any pressure...
...but I see this like it made in most another sites - two buttons everywhere "more info" and "order now".

One more time second page full of different features you give for the price approves me - Yes, I'm going to make right decision. :-) Otherwise I start thinking - "stop, what are they trying to hide from me?!"

And again - buyers' psyhology is so different ("buyers", "readers" etc.) - so, amount of peoples around probably can say that they are OK with your current design. I didn't find anything really bad or incorrect in your design. My comments are connected to very tiny things. And as always you personally should make the final decision. :D

Good luck,

...know how a first time viewer sees it...

My only comment along those lines would be that the front page hits me with a great deal of information.

The Starter, Standard, and Professional banners are good -- they drew my eyes first. However, you also have Reseller Accounts, below, in a different format, (i.e., a grey box with a picture next to it, rather than the way you list Virtual Packages). On top of that, the All Packages Include bar, the testimonial at the upper-right, the menubar at the upper-left, and so forth.

While all these are important, they all compete for attention, rather than complementing each other. WildSnake's suggestion of a "More Info" link might allow you to list features like php, MySQL, and the money back guarantee seperately.

The More Info | Order thing is so simple, I'm not sure why I overlooked that possibility. I'll do my best to slowly incorporate all your suggestions into the site. Thanks a lot guys.
