I was looking at my stats and wondering why there was a little spike in my website hits, coming from avault.

Nice to know somebody out there is paying attention. Bit of a shame it happened a week *before* I tidied up my site and put up the Platypus stuff though.

Hey, congrats on the coverage! Given the jaw-dropping quality of the screenshots, I'd say that you now have quite a few anticipating players, not only messageboard members! :)
Though it certainly would have been nice if you had pushed Platypus to the visitor crowd, but it's hard to time everything just right. In my mind, the online launch of Platypus is a great way to get more attention to your business and your upcoming game!
By the way, how many visitors does such a news story generate? When my game was selected at the IGF I was expecting a boost of visitors, but to my surprise I only got a few hundred visitors. Not a big deal, since I don't have anything on my page, but still...

It was only about 150 visitors. But hey, it's just a few screenshots after all. It was nice that avault considered it newsworthy 'sall.

Yeah, there's nothing like the feeling when somebody else takes an interest in and appreciates what you do! Avault seems to be good at covering the indie scene, giving them my respect. Didn't DIY give them a GOTY award for that? Let's hope that all the other game sites follow their lead and increase the indie coverage!

I had an "AVault surprise" like that late last year. Even though it may not have a lasting effect on your traffic, it does put you on their radar: since AVault's initial article about Whirling Chair, they've contacted me a few times since then to see if I had anything new to tell them. I have to hand it to them for staying on top of the gaming scene as well as they do.
