SoftSpot Software are pleased to announce the launch of their first commercial OpenGL based product Letter Rack 3D. Now the world's most popular word game is available in breathtaking 3D realism that has to be seen to be believed. Our sales slogan for our product is ‘Too good for words’. And that has been the focus throughout the two year development cycle of this product. Everything contained in Letter Rack 3D had to not only look real but had to function in a 3D world too.
Seeing is believing ... download from :

(We would value your feedback too ... it's been two years in development ! If it works on your system then let us know ... if it doesn't then describe the problem - OS, Graphics Card etc.)
Many thanks,
Andrew Jameson

"Breathtaking" realism? At least from the screenshots I miss shadows ;) Looks very good though.

Er...it's ScrabbleTM. Do you have the license? If so, you should state that clearly on your website. If not...Hasbro(US) and Mattel(UK) are pretty active in protecting their board (and "look & feel") copyright.
There are a number of Scrabble clones out there that don't acknowledge Hasbro so I'm guessing that (like Monopoly) the trademarked aspect has been thrown out the window. You might want to look into it, though since Hasbro has "official" PC versions for sale. They may not be able to enforce their trademark but how much do you want to bet they have bogus patents?
I wouldn't bother with bump mapping or shadows if it's going to raise your system requirements. This is not a "hardcore gamers" product so you should keep your system requirements as low as possible. The kind of person who would buy shareware scrabble likely isn't running DirectX 9 on a top of the line PC.

Just because other people do it...that makes it legal?
As to "the trademarked aspect being thrown out the window", that's not true: MONOPOLY®, THE DISTINCTIVE DESIGN OF THE GAME BOARD, THE FOUR CORNER SQUARES, AS WELL AS EACH OF THE DISTINCTIVE ELEMENTS OF THE BOARD AND THE PLAYING PIECES ARE TRADEMARKS OF HASBRO, INC. FOR ITS REAL ESTATE TRADING GAME AND GAME EQUIPMENT. © (from 1935 up to 1997) HASBRO, INC. You can make a "land dealing" game if you want, but you can't make it look like the Monopoly board.
Yes, there was a case in which the original inventor of Monopoly sued Parker Brothers for producing the game without their permission, but that was settled.
