Today I was googling around an appearense of our games at Google and had found new review on our game at Game Tunnel site:

http://www.gametunnel.com/html/reviews-88.html

Wow! Looks like we are the real winners there. Nobody has so LOW rating as our game. :D

PS BTW we had ordered the payed advertising at their site. I'm just wondering "what for? - to give peoples a chance to read this nice review?" :D

PS Thanks, GBGames. Hopefully link is fixed now.

Link seems to be broken. I also tried to search for the review, and I couldn't find it on their site.

EDIT:
Ok, I found the google link:
http://www.gametunnel.com/html/reviews-88.html

It seems to work fine from Google.

I'm sure that someone has managed lower than 3 stars on GT before now. It's not a terrible review, just not a great one. That's the problem with reviews, they are subjective to the person doing the reviewing. Someone else might think your game is fantastic, but they may never play it if they read that revie first.

Yeah damocles,

I had checked. You are right. Three more titles have terrible three stars there as well.

PS To that game developers: Don't be too disappointed guys! i know your games are better than that reviewers are trying to make them. Nice to have you in team! :D

I decided to have wander around GT and came across 7 reviews that had three stars and none lower. I guess that they are not a proper review site then, either that or they only review good games. In which case, your first point about 3 stars being a bad review on GT stands - bad luck there. But hopefully enough people will consider three stars enough to warrant a try.

edit: be grateful you didn't opt for a mini review, they don't seem to be too bothered about slating them...

Ouch - half a star, bet the developers loved that review :(

Well I just want to point out that I am glad that Game Tunnel doesn't give favorable reviews automatically to developers who pay for them.

I can understand not liking the review that you paid for, but at the same time, you have to ask yourself:
- Are the complaints valid?
- What can I do to fix that?
- Do other review sites give conflicting reviews of your game?

At the very least, yes, people find out about your game. Maybe they like pinball and want to see what it is. 3 stars is not 5 stars, but it isn't 2 stars either. I have made some good decisions getting games that PC Gamer said were good, like Original War. I would never have given that title a second look if I didn't read about it. Likewise, I know to stay away from some really bad games out there.

Regarding this review: I personally am intrigued with the concept of combining Space Invaders and Pinball. This work computer sucks, but I might try to get it when I go home to check it out.

Which will lead me to check out your other offerings (and I think it is fair to say that other readers will probably do the same).

To fix review? :D

Yes, of course. Amount! And very conflicting from time to time. :D

But most important for me what are saying our existing and potential customers. And what are saying money in my pocket. :)

PS Thanks for your comments GBGames. I can't accept any point of that review by anyway but I like at least you will try the games. Not very bad result of bad review. Or my noticing of it here??? :)

PSS I wasn't paying for review directly. We were paying for advertsing. Mostly in attempt to help and collaborate. Review was a free gift. :) :) :)

Just so you know, I played it a bit the other day. I intend to play a bit more, but so far my first impression was that it was pretty cool.

And technically I am trying out the game more due to this thread on the forum, but I really wanted to check for myself and see if the review was fair. So the review in the end technically got me to play the game when I might otherwise have not.

I think. B-)

Also, I looked up the game on google and I found that there were a lot of favorable reviews out there. On the other hand, I am having trouble finding a review nearly as detailed. Bytten apparently has it lined up in the coming weeks, so we'll see what they say.

Reading the GT review again, I have to wonder how much the lack of a continue function entered into it. Like I said, I only played a little bit, but according to http://www.shareup.net/Game/Arcade/WildSnake-Pinball-INVASION-review-14122.html
there are "8 missions and 46 levels in 5 different worlds" and if I had to start over every time I play, I could see knocking off a few points. Also, apparently the lack of variety in the game (both in enemies and gameplay) took away a lot of points too.

I'm no hardcore pinball fan, but from the review it sounds like your other pinball games are a bit more varied and fun compared to this, at least to the reviewer. Again, my opinion so far, having not tried out your other games, is that the game is an interesting and refreshing twist on what I am used to seeing in pinball games, but I only played it for a few minutes.

Well, that "developer", as you call it, is one of those "developers" that gives indie developers a bad name. Their games are just ridiculous rip-offs! Go to their website and see for yourself.

There you find their stupid version of Weapon Studio's Dope Farmer (they call it Dope Dealer... http://users.skynet.be/illusionsoftware/dopedealer/info/info.html ), Word Puzzler (http://users.skynet.be/illusionsoftware/wordpuzzler/word.html )
is the EXACT copy of a small freeware game (Scramble SG) made by SoftGun (http://members.aol.com/softgun/Pages/Other_Index.html , this time they've only changed the name, everything else is basically the same. Scramble SG was made as a tutorial to Game Maker, this "developer" downloaded it, changed the name and voilá, Word Puzzler was born.

What about the game reviwed by Game Tunnel? http://www.gametunnel.com/html/reviews2-8.html
I think it's a really bad rip-off of Unipong... http://www.dexterity.com/unipong/

Not to mention their "about us" statement :"We started as a traditional retail game developer, but we realized that the publisher we worked with had goals that weren't compatible with ours." Just like Dexterity's :D :D
Read it all, it's hilarious! :D http://users.skynet.be/illusionsoftware/aboutus/about.html
Now compare it with this: http://www.dexterity.com/aboutus/

What I don't understand is how they started as a "traditional retail game developer" using tools like Game Maker and The Games Factory ROFL :D

Wildsnake, I've downloaded your game, I think it's very cool, I liked it!

GBGames,

First of all thanks a lot for your attention, advices and fair opinion. This is very useful - we never stop to work to advance our games. Namely INVASION has 9 missions and 47 levels, additional bonuses and enemies now ( previous version had 8 and 42 - we suddenly wrong calculated them!!! :p )
Our other pinballs are very cool too. But INVASION easily oversells both of them together. This is true and this is said.

Bytten! Exactly. I'm very intrigued as well - it was said they are even sharper!!! :D And yes I can approve we had been submitting our game to be reviewed at Bytten. Because... Because it is fun and interesting for us by anyway!!! :D

Kryptonite Games,
>Wildsnake, I've downloaded your game, I think it's very cool, I liked it!
Thanks to you as well.

PS I was trying to explain you guys. I wasn't agreed too much with such an easy flushing of our game. Because I supposed that review a way too subjective. Don't know why...

One more time thank you.

I'm glad GT don't do puff pieces. A reviewer should tell it straight. But of course different reviewers will disagree, that's the nature of the beast.

Actually I think most indie games reviews are far too soft on the whole. That half a star game sounds so incredibly bad, I would never, ever have given it even that half star!
