We are about to send press releases out for a new product, now in beta test. To wit, we'll soon launch the product's website:

www.dejobaan.com/inago/proto

Before we launch, we'd like to hear your feedback on:

Draw - Does the front page make you want to browse the rest of the site?
Aesthetics - Is the site visually appealing?
Description - Does the site give you a good idea about what the game is?
Interface - Is the site easy to navigate?
Defects - Are any elements obviously broken?
Interest - Does the site showcase the product so that you'll remember it?

And of course, if you have any general comments, (be they a single line or a Melvillian epic), let us know. You are among the few who can comment from the standpoints of both game developer and gamer.

Thank you!

It's a pretty good site, but whether this sort of design is good or bad is debatable. I think I'll respond with a good things/bad things list:

Good Things

- The super fancy design implies a professional retail game
- The game looks really fun from the screenshots

Bad Things

- Took some looking and thinking to figure out what the game is about, and I'm still not entirely clear.
- The BetaTest image pushes down the content too far down, put it at left side or something and don't have it push content down.

Basically you have a nice site, but it doesn't make the purpose of the game very clear. Both design and descriptions should make the type of game very clear right away.

I agree with everything ^he^ said.

Its really intriguing actually(the site). It doesn't really look like any of the other usual indy game sites you would see around the net.

I guess part of the intrigue is what the game actually consists of.....its not really clear to me at this point(other than its some kind of action game.....right?).

Definitely a cool lookin site though..

Thanks much for the feedback. I will address the "what is this about!?" aspect by making the gameplay (http://www.dejobaan.com/inago/proto/gameplay.htm) page tell more of a story. (As I've been working on this for some time now, I had no idea that we did not make this clear.)

Can anyone else further rip the site apart? (Feel free to be critical and unkind.) How does the gallery (http://www.dejobaan.com/inago/proto/gallery.htm) strike you? The images still make use of much programmer art, but I'd like to know how we are doing in the aesthetics department.

In my opinion, the gallery subtitles should be eliminated. I didn't even notice the Arena and Story sections until you specifically said to examine the gallery because they are hidden so far below. Mix in the story shots and some arena builder shots with the other screenshots instead. I also don't think you need 12 entire gameplay shots, especially since they all showcase essentially the same thing. Adding captions to the gameplay images would help a lot as well. I think a good balance of shots would be:

5 gameplay shots
1 main menu screen
3 arena builder shots
3 storyline shots

And try mixing the different types of shots up, so instead of 5 gameplay shots follow by 3 arena shots, you just randomly dump them into the 3x4 grid (with captions). See how that works out.

To address the immediate, "what is this?" aspect, (or, at least, to make the index page more gripping), I've altered it significantly (http://www.dejobaan.com/inago/proto/). I'm looking to give the user a 4-sentence overview. Does the hand-written text give the site a unique feel, or is it too gimmicky?

(I've also taken Lizardsoft's suggestions re: the gallery, but the site's not yet been updated with them.)

just a little thing :

the top image bar, with many little screenshots, is a bit "too much". U already have many things on ur website, and this bar always makes me confused, coz I'm trying to see a relation with the text bar... And actually, the images there are too small and not really understandable. I think it'd be better to have something more simple and more clear there.
U have already enough meaningful details all around, so do not add some useless and perturbing things at top of ur page... IMHO :)
