Hey folks,
Today is the official opening of the Project Hugo Beta! Anyone can download a full version of the game and test it.It will available for 1 month and then the beta will close and the trial version will go up.For those who don't know about the game here is a brief summary.
Hugo is a sheep who has been sent on a mission to retrieve the crystal of light, the source of power for the entire world, from the evil fruit people led by the bananas.Hugo has to collect things likes powerups and grass to destroy his enemies and progress through the 50+ levels. It contains fully original graphics and music and is a great platformer.

Ok, a few first glance observations.
First of all level 1 is way too hard. I lost all my lives twice before I finished it.
I'd suggest disconnecting the up and the jump buttons. Quite a few times I died because of the sheep wanting to climb a ladder, when I wanted him to jump. Might I suggest space, that way the player can jump and climb. (Think Commander Keen)
The game would be easier if the bananas always walked to the edges of the platform.
The graphic for the ladders doesn't look quite right.
The backgrounds look good
The collision against ladders is a little off, sometimes my sheep would be climbing a ladder, but he wouldn't be on one. (I think bug is replecated by climbing onto a ladder and then moving to the left, so that it looks like the sheep should fall, but doesn't)
The collision against enemies is just a tad off. If the collision didn't detect for another 4 pixels or so I think it would be better.
Somekind of timer or indicator for the powerups would be nice, that way the player would know when they're running out.
Flying sheep power up = Teh Cool
A nice little 'bbaaa' when jumping could add to the game
Thats all for now.

Thanks for your comments.I am going to have to rework the jumping because a few people have mentioned that there is a problem with.As for the collision detection, I am trying to fix that as I type.Did you like the super sheep powerup on level 2?

Yeah the other sheep powerup was cool too, but I liked the jetpack one the best.

It ran at about 5FPS for me.
128MB NVIDIA Quadro FX 500 (driver v6.14.0),
1000MB,
P4.
running XP.
The front page looks like it took you 5 minutes, making the overall game look much worse I think.

I don't know why I liked it better, I guess it just appeals to my childhood fantasy of wanting to fly I guess....
Suppose I should give you my comp specs,
Althlon 1800xp
windows xp
256mb Ram
DX 8.0
Geforce 4 MX 440
Oh and it ran fine, was there an fps counter?
