Debating on attending the Shareware Industry Conference in NY this year and wondering from those of you who have attended, how profitable a time is this for you and your business?

Hi Jim:

I have been the past 2 years, and it's great... I'd say the best thing about it is just talking with other developers and getting new ideas. I can't speak for everyone, but it has definitely been worth it for me!

When and where is it being held this year? I can't seem to find the link.

I've never made it there, but each year I say "next year for sure". Hopefully this year then? ;)

It's in Rochester again, which isn't my favorite venue, it seems like the downtown is a bit run down :(

Thanks Mike, that is helpful.

How is the quality of the panel speakers? I am very familiar with Steve's stuff here, are the rest of the speakers on par with the quality he gives? (understanding this is probably hard to match...)

I am strongly considering going...I would like to meet some of my partners like yourself personally and get a better feel for the developer's side of the industry. However, I take my wife on all my trips so I want to make sure it is good stuff we are going to since it is 2 schedules to disrupt.

Of course, there is the amazing House of Guitars (http://home.rochester.rr.com/rrours/pictures.htm), which you MUST visit if you go to Rochester (I think it's still there... it has been a while since I've visited, though).

I loved the SIC!

If your networking skills are good, I'd recommend going. I met ALOT of great people in the industry (Hi Mike!) many which turned out later to be very important contacts. And EVERYONE is so friendly and helpful! On top of that, the seminars were (on average) very informative.

And the food was good too!

I might go again... if I can find the time in July.

Only bad thing I can say is... Rochester? I don't have anything against Rochester, but I found it a little boring.
