Hi,
What do you think about links from web-site to others? Does it help to improve search engine ranking? Or entertain visitors? Or totally unuseful page?
P.S. BTW I would like to exchange links with other game-related sites (button 88x31). Our link page has 350 - 450 visitors a day. Just drop me a mail at support@sunnygames.com

Linking to other games sites is a good way to increase the value of your website to your customers. Reciprocal linking is not necessary - outbound links increase the value of your site regardless of whether that site links back to you. I get about 10% of my traffic from people browsing over from other indie sites.

The way I understand it is that google pagerank is a a measure of all sites linking to you, but weighing their value by their pagerank and voting power. A page with pagerank 8 that links only to you will be worth a lot. A pagerank 3 page with 100 links and one to you very little. But so far as I know the value is cumulative. That is.. every little bit counts. The only exception that I'm aware of is if you link to a "bad neighborhood" - ie some site that is using tricks and has been blacklisted, or a link farm with thousands of links designed to trick google and so on.

I also read somewhere, though, that outbound links "leak" PageRank, so you want to be a little selective in agreeing to give someone a link out of your site, to balance the benefits to your users with the cost in PageRank.
