I am amazed at how many people heavily envolved in the game industry are lurking around these forums. As far as I know there hasnt been any mention of this forum on any big sites.
How did everybody get here?
Myself: I used to check the gamedev, business of game development forums. I also used to come to dex every few weeks to see if steve had posted any new texts. That is how I got here, how about u?

Yeah I used to visit (and still do once in a while) the gamedev business forum. That's where I saw Steve's announcement about this forum.

ditto, saw the announcement on business of gamedev at GD.net
I love the calibur of the individuals who freequent this forum. I don't mean to be elitist or exclusive, but I really like our "underground" status as well. ;)

A couple of months ago, I did a search on (something like) "Shareware Distribution" and found dexterity.com...from there, I stumbled on the forum. :)

I was researching on shareware as the first step to start an indie way. Scanned through many sites. Read plenty of articles. That is how I found one of Steve's articles published on another site. Once I'd read it I couldn't resist the temptation to use the link in the signature. That's how I came to Dexterity and found here other excellent articles by Steve and this forum. Both were and still are invaluable sources of inspiration. Thank you, Steve. Thank you, guys :)

Our team musician (Hydroaxe) knew about it from GameDev while asking/reading about eGames to publsh our game and we find a cool thread about Dexterity Vs eGames.
Then we visited Dexterity web site and read its developer FAQ and Steve cool aricles, a few days l8r we contacted Steve with our game (Pharaohs' Curse) and a few days l8r he replied with one of the best reply we have ever waiting for :)

I learned about this site from a friend (and fellow indie). Of course, now that I know about it, it seems like I see it mentioned everywhere. Kind of like how when you come up with what you think is a cool new game idea, you start seeing it everywhere. :)

I heard about it when I read Sphinx's posts on BlitzBasic (http://www.blitzbasic.com) about his deal with Dexterity.

Like a lot of others, I saw this on gamedev too. And at the time I was really wanting a higher signal place to read and post, so this fit the bill perfectly. I think I was here within an hour or two of Steve setting up the forum. :)
I stumbled across a link to one of the great articles on this site and got hooked in from there.
My story of finding these forums is really fun (for me at least :))
The point is that i'm subscribed with dexterity's newsletter and i got used to get at least one in a month during summer when they released a lot of games in a short period. Then i didn't get a single newsletter in few months and i suspected some strange "lost of my email" or some reorganisation. Thus, i visited dexterity.com, found the rearranged website, looked at what's new and... i'm here :)
Now i think i won't need the newsletter anymore, b/c since i registered with these forums, i visit at least few times a day :)
I visit gamedev regularly(infact twice or thrice everyday). i have been there from 2000. Thats when i saw the posts of steve, always precise and to the point and no digressing. I sorta liked it and when i saw that the forum was up in dex, i signed up immediately.

I was on holiday on the planet Mars, an alien told me about Dexterity Software. When I was back home I typed "Dexteriy Software" in Google and found the amazing website of Dexterity Software. So you realise how big and strong the marketing and distribution of Dexterity Software is, it even reaches the moon.

Excellent... Last time I was abducted I figured I might as well try putting out some feelers for some off-planet cross-promotional deals. I think it's a market that just poised to explode -- the Martians' computers easily meet the minimum requirements of anything we might release this century. I can't wait for their 4D acceleration technology to reach earth. :)

Hi all,
Figure this is a good place for my first post to the forum. I followed a link pointing to one of the articles (Professional v Amateur [sic]). The link was posted in my favorite SW forum, Open IT Forum (http://pub21.ezboard.com/bopenitforum) , which deals with software contracting and consulting.
After reading most of the articles and many posts here in the forum, I see it is a place that I can relate to. There seems to be a high signal to noise ratio, which is my absolute most important criterion when frequenting a forum.
I am currently a Java and Web Developer, but I have been working on some game ideas lately and hope to cull some gems of wisdom from the gurus here to help me determine the feesibility of my ideas.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
