Hi.
I've been an avid user of easyspace for licensing URLS and getting some web presence, but I've just noticed their prices are going up instead of down and the price for what I want is absolutely ridiculous.
What I want for a new website for my game is:
Register and host my own URL (I know its available)
Large download b/width
No banners/ads/popups/anything I dont put there
CGi/PHP
POP3 mailbox with forwarding
50-100Mb of space, upgradeable
Reliable server that stays up!
I don't want the absolute cheapest from mickeymousebackbedroom.com but a real, proper business that won't dissappear next month.
Anyone have any suggestions please ?
(sorry if you saw this cross-posted over at gg)

I use PowWeb. 5Gb of transfer a day, which is pretty good unless you're hosting a huge demo or getting a vast amount of traffice ( I should be so lucky. ) They've been ultra reliable, very helpful, they keep adding new features or increasing the bandwidth limits without charging my any more money and they're very honest and open.
I found a lot of hosts offering huge amount of bandwidth ( or the ever-ridiculous unlimited bandwidth ) and then you read the terms of use and find out they can shut you down for excessive use whenever they feel like it. What I liked about PowWeb is that they specify exactly what constitutes excessive use and they email you as soon as it looks like you're heading towards those numbers.
If I recall correctly, I signed up for two years of hosting ( plus two months free ) and got a free domain name for two years. Total price was.. er.. well it worked out just under $7 US a month, so I guess it was around $160 US. You don't have to sign up for two years though, it's just marginally cheaper and you get more free stuff ( domain, free months )
Are oneandone.com still doing their three years free hosting? Couple of friends of mine signed up for that, but it was US and Canada only.

Many thanks.
You're the second person to suggest those, so I just went and signed up - got a similar deal to you by the sounds of it - 7.77 and I also went for the 2 year option.
I hear you on the 5Gb/Day thing. My games gonna be around 15Mb when complete, so if I start going over that and get at least 1% conversion, I should be able to afford something even more serious should the need arise. Here's hoping eh...

I'm also using PowWeb and am (now) happy with it. However, must admit that I wasn't too keen initially on their 'command center' which I found not intuitive - took some time to learn how to use it properly to set up my emails, etc.

I've jsut signed up with those (PowWeb) and am keenly awaiting my spanking new URL going live. There may even be something at it by the end of the week.
Thanks all for your suggestions. These look good to me atm

If you have budget for dedicated server and need a lot of bandwidth (700gb+ per month) either ev1servers.net or servermatrix.com.
