Has anyone on here dealt with http://www.rocketdownload.com?

I've been unable to get a reply - over a period of a few weeks - to any of several messages I've sent to both their tech support and advertising email addresses.

Hi Roulette,

Fun games, fun site (working for NASA? :) ). Is it just me or server is little bit slow?

Anyway, Rocketdownloads... You doubtfully need their answers ;)
What is an issue? I mean we were trying to contact with them by autumn - were considering on some advertising there. But while they answered had figured out that we had only 20 downloads per month standing on the first page. I suppose site is almost dead after long down time period.

Want to buy the domain? :) - Contact with Digital candle... ;)

That's a little odd. They have pretty decent alexa rank so would think their traffic supports a bit better than the level described.

One possibility... try different wording in your email. I had emails to one partner bounce back saying specified user does not exist but turned out his spam checker was kicking off on keywords in the email. Sounds like you already tried their feedback and advertising forms.

Unrelated note...

Tried out your Pipe game and found it to be nice. Two things though...
1) Why are you using PayPal for purchasing? I, among many, would not purchase a game through just PayPal

2) Have you considered adding a "Goal Mode" where you must connect the pipes to an actual goal (Ie Rocket Mania, etc.)? I feel a lack of accompolishment by connecting them to no where.

In any case, just a few thoughts.

Alex

The first sentence on the purchase page specifies that we accept a "wide variety of different payment options including PayPal, credit cards...." Click the drop down box to choose a method other than PayPal.

A "goal mode"? Yeah...Pipeline is actually in the middle of a large upgrade, and we've thought about a variety of things that would enable you to "win" a level. The upgrade will probably be done by next week. I'll post a link here when it's ready.

Regarding ensuring that I have sent my RocketDownload email to the correct address...I used their web-based email entry functionality, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Regarding the previous question about the server appearing to be a bit slow...it's colocated with 100 megabits of dedicated bandwidth, and has its own exclusive dual Pentium RAID'ed server...hence, it shouldn't be slow. I haven't experienced any problems and haven't heard any other complaints, but I would definitely appreciate any other comments from people regarding the speed of the web site.

Alexa is a real unrealiable source of traffic numbers from my experience. I wouldn't trust it at all. Not enough people using the toolbar to get reliable data.

Oops Jim,

You just explained why your site has such a good rating in Alexa! :D

Seriously, I'm not sure how good Alexa in common. But your site has very big rating at Alexa and gives amount of downloads for our products. So, everything is looking appropriate in this concrete case.

I'm really sorry Alexa doesn't measure the quality of traffic. But that's absolutely another story ;)

Quite true to an extent. I've seen huge variances in ranks versus traffic however never seen a 40k rank with no traffic. That level of # typically means multiple alexa sample points. From my observations of game sites that could mean from 3k - 30k visitors a day. But of course anything's possible.

Yeah...

Nova times I'm returning again and again to that "unknown" arcadetown site... This is strange. It has so perfect Alexa range. But I couldn't find anybody from there to contact with... :D :D :D

OK. I'm kidding... Wait for my email Brian. May be we'll be able to work out something useful for both sides... ;)

REM:
1. I'm trying to say really that Alexa works OK. At least for us...
2. How my message connected to RocketDownloads? :) - Well. I can't get how they have such a good rank in Alexa for current times. Is it enough explanation? :D
