Has anyone tried "Buy One Get One Free Offers?" And if so how did it do?
Is there a demand for such promotions? In other words is it likely to act as an incentive to buy? I suppose if someone was buying a game as a gift then it would, but do many people buy downloadable games as gifts?
Your thoughts and comments welcome.

I would have thought buy one get one free in relation to indie games would mean buy this game, get our other older game for free.
I think the more common thing you see, however, is discounts for buying more than one game at the same time, or special packs of games at a discounted rate.
You could always have buy one get one free in the case of addon packs I suppose.

That's definately an option, but I was thinking in terms of the same game. The main reason being that it would be less of a barrier to the buyer in them making a purchase decision. It's a more simpler proposition for them to grasp, because if you have several games to choose the free one...they may just think sod it I cant decide.

I can't see that offer being beneficial at all. You have to realistically ask yourself how many situations arise where the customer would want more than one copy of the game, I'd wager the answer is not very often.

Maybe if it were some sort of non-massive multiplayer game it would make sense? After all, if a game is best designed for multiplayer there's the problem of buying the game and not having anyone to play with... if you got two registrations when you signed up, then you could give one to someone else to convince them to play?

Hi there,
One year ago I tried to use such technic for my utilities from http://www.ActualTools.com , and it was very uneffective. Only one man at all asked me about the second copy (he had home computer and notebook).
After one or two months I decided to remove this offer.
Sincerely,
