Which game are you most looking forward to in the next 3-6 months?
I've noticed there are a number of games due for release in the next few months that I'm eager to get my hands on, but I the one I'm most excited about is Thief 3.
I loved the first one, and loved most of the 2nd one. When Ion Storm picked up the Thief franchise I was happy, happy ( :D <-- me then), but after the let-down that Deux Ex 2 was, I get a worried, sick feeling in my stomach that Thief 3 may be more of the same (:( <-- me today). I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Not much :(
The new Sam and Max got canned, and Duke Nukem Forever isn't out anytime soon. I do have high hopes for Half Life 2, but I might need to update my system before I can really enjoy it. I think we are due for a new building game, something along the lines of Sim City or Theme Hospital or Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Add another one for Halo 2.
Although since I've been knee deep in development I haven't been paying too much attention to game releases. It seems Splinter Cell 2 just came out of nowhere. Though I imagine once my game is complete, my field of vision will increase again.

I'd say Retro64's new platform game demo.
I don't wait for AAA titles, i like to be surprised by games that i have not heard of before (happens seldom). Hyped titles often don't live up to the expectations.

Anything by Nintendo!!

World of Warcraft.
Still interested in Seal of Evil with the caveats mentioned in the past (deep fear of bad dubbing).
I buy *very* little in the way of new mainstream retail games. I'm cheap and hang around waiting for things to turn up in bargain bins. But WOW is about the only thing my partner and I both want to play, so we're extra excited at the prospect of getting a game we can share.

... adventures take too long to make (well) for most shareware types! Although there definitely are some homebrew ones - Dark Fall was made by just one guy and was sold off his website, even though it has now been picked up by a publisher.
http://www.hanakogames.com/dreams.shtml - my attempt at the genre, but it's quite short (and has serious pathfinding issues). Fun for an hour or two, though. :)

Hitman : Contracts

Dang - I'm looking forward to my OWN game shipping so I'll have time to play the games I already have! And get some others I've been wanting to try out but haven't yet (like Tron 2.0 and Rainbow Six III). I recently bought UT 2004, Lock On: Modern Air Combat, and X2: The Threat, and I've hardly played them. :P
As far as new, upcoming stuff... can't say I'm that excited for Doom III, but I'll probably get it when it comes out. Half Life 2 has me interested. There's a Vampire the Masquerade licensed game using the HL2 engine that looks interesting, coming out shortly afterwards. World of Warcraft and City of Heroes both have my interest as well.

I'm looking forward to the movies, even though im working on it ;), also maybe Thief 3, if its not too dumbed down.
Cossacks 2 will probably get my money.
Half Life 2 if there is a playable demo I like, I won't buy it otherwise, its been too overhyped, I just don't trust reviewers to be honest with that one.
Everything else in development seems either to be yet another standard FPS, or a fantasy MMORPG or some uber-violent game set in a cheesy sci-fi future.
Why arent there any WW1 games? or maybe a roleplaying/adventure/FPS game set during the american civil war, or the napoleonic war?
I'm so fed up with games about vietnam (how many are there now?) or WW2(COD was good, but Im bored with WW2 now).
All the big retail titles seem to be 'mee-too!' games.

Those'll keep me busy for awhile.
Gish looks interesting also, although playing the artist's previous games make me a little worried as to how it will play. His older games were pretty shallow in the gameplay department, albeit beautifully animated.
Half Life 2, but I won't be able to run it. So, err... nothing? There's not even any interesting game planned for my Amiga that I know of...
Edit: Oh, wait... Arx Fatalis (http://www.arx-fatalis.com/) 2 should be interesting :-) (will probably be as power-hungry as HL2 though)

Also I just bought Splinter Cell 2: Pandora Tomorrow and I must say so far it is a very cool game. It's basicly like a modern day version of Theif with cool gadjets and what not. It's very cool.

@KNau:
I think the reason most people here mentioned mainstream retail games is because we don't know what Indies games are coming up. :) There are very few preview articles of upcoming Indie games. GameTunnel has a lot of reviews, but very few previews. The few previews they do have are mostly outdated (ie. the game is already released). Same with DIY Games. I personally only know of maybe 2-3 non-Indie puzzle games that are coming out in the next 3-6 months. My game, maybe Cletus, and Space Taxi 2.
I'm not really blaming GameTunnel or DIY Games. It's hard to do previews of Indie games. There are a large amount (probably the vast majority) of Indie games that simply never see the light of day. It's probably tough for GameTunnel or DIY Games to decide what games are worth doing previews on. Also, on the other hand the Indies that are successful usually don't reveal their games until it's almost released. Kind of hard to do previews on games you don't now about. :)
I'd actually like to see a release schedule posted of all known Indie games that will be released in Q2 & Q3. If someone managed to put together a master release schedule of all Indie games, that'd be really cool. It'd be a nice resource, plus it would give the games on the schedule a bit of exposure. What do you guys think?
The only downside is that when your game gets delayed, it will be more publicly visible. But who knows, that actually might be a good thing since it could motivate you to stay on schedule. :)
Maybe next time when one of these threads are posted, more Indie games will be mentioned.

As far as WWI games go Cliffski, there's always "WWI: The Great War" It's a RTS.
As far as games I'm looking forward to, here they are in no particular order:
They Came From Hollywood
Trash
Gish
World Fables
Starshatter
Take Command: 1861 The Civil War
Driv3r
A few indie adventure games, but their names escape me at the moment.
Funny, even though I'm going to E3 again this year I can't think of anything I'm looking forward to seeing. It's all about Kentia hall, who0t!
Oh, and there are a good number of adventure games that get released every year (mainstream and indie), you just have to really keep your eyes peeled for them because they don't get much coverage. Check out Just Adventure (http://justadventure.com/) for stay up to date.

WWI doesn't make good games, basically trench fighting and sending thousands to the front with a rifle were the main tactics :) WWII was more objective oriented, more weaponary and of course, PANZERS !!! :)
And by the way, CoD wasn't good, CoD was freaking marvelous mate! :)
You should try Hidden and Dangerous 2, it's about the SAS on WWII. It's just like playing Rainbow Six with an Einfeld or a Kar98 you stole from a trembling Nazi soldier after emptying a clip of a Bar over theri heads :)
As for me, I'm pretty much waiting for any decent wargame about WWII, Korsun's Pocket is already out so I'll just get that one while new ones don't arrive. (if I can find it that is, stupid portuguese shops don't carry ANY wargames at all).

Yup, the only games I'm looking forward to are indie ones. They Came From Hollywood. Gish. Hero the Dog. Probably some others I can't think of right now. And Katsu's Journey just 'cause it's been in production for so long...
Maybe some of them will be crap, and I'll only play them for 5 minutes and go "oh well". You never know with indie games. But until then, I'll be anticipating.
But by far, most of all, in a hugely-eclipsing-everything kind of way, I am looking forward to the release of my own game.

You could say the same thing about car games couldnt you? Drive, steer, brake, crash.
Its the mechanics/dynamics that distinguish some titles over others. Ive played some FPS that feel just right. The weapons. The feedback. Everything. For example Goldeneye on the N64.
Then you play something like Unreal. Good graphics. Good lighting. good ememies. BAD feeling. Awfull.

You could generalize like this with almost any genre, including almost every single game made in the indie community. Half-Life 2, Halo 2 and Doom 3 will have at the very least some of the best production values ever seen in first person shooters. And chances are even if the gameplay isn't extremely innovative, it still be fun (isn't that what indie gaming is all about, fun games :)).

Not to turn this into "game x sucks, game y rocks", but Golden Eye is ridiculously overrated... It doesn't feel right to me at all. Unreal Tournament (orginal) on the other hand is probably the best feeling FPS I've ever played.

It has to be played in dual analog mode to be appreciated. (with auto aim turned off for control snobs like me) That means a controller for each hand. It can't be set up for a "WASD" type config I'd use on a PC, but to me is still has the best analog feel out of any console FPS.
I'm looking forward to:
Halo 2 (starving for full screen online co-op through single player campaign)
Doom 3 (who doesn't want to see how John Carmack's baby turns out?)
Half Life 2 (of course!)
Goldeneye 2
Resident Evil 4 (gotta see these speedy thinking zombies)

I know Fable it supposed to take it to a greater level, with leading your character through their whole life not just a single adventure, but it seems to me KOTOR dimminished a good deal of the novelty of that whole idea.

It's not the controls, it's the crappy level design that gets to me. The multiplayer levels are (IMHO) barely a set up from wolfenstein. Keep in mind that I've only played multiplayer GoldenEye, the single player is probably vastly different. I liked Perfect Dark's single player a lot and played it with dual analog controls, although I always questioned why they didn't let you use the C buttons as "WASD" and the analog stick like a mouse (Turok 2 did this, and I'm sure other N64 shooters did.)
In my experience everyone mostly plays multiplayer and that is the part of the game that's supposed to be so great. In terms of N64 shooter multiplayer I had a lot more fun with Turok 2 (better levels, weapons, and yes even controls) than with Golden Eye.
