Uh oh... someone's trying to out-geek me. :)

Anyway, DR has been buying up competitors for years. I often see a surge of Borg references in the ASP newsgroups whenever another reg service gets assimilated.

Most of the feedback I've heard from others is that post-DR acquisitions tend to gradually go downhill in terms of service and responsiveness to developer needs. I've heard reports of short-sighted changes that aim to boost profits for the reg service while hurting developers; download insurance is a recent example.

Resistance is futile.

I think it's neither a good or bad thing for me.
I use Plimus :) and won't put any more of my products on regnow, unless they lower their fee to some reasonable amount.
I make more money selling 2 games with plimus than 6 games with affiliate with regnow... that says all I think.

DR has not added any value (at least from the affiliate side) to RegNow. I thought they would have opened up their network and combined access across the board. Instead, they have several properties that aren't any more valuable than before.

The focus these days seems to be to gobble up distribution channels for the exposure but not really add any value. Strange way to do business. (SellShareware.com an example)

Just go to the SIC, and it will be clear just how dominant DR is. They are everywhere, spending lots of money. I have spoken with Jessica Dewell a few times there, and she, along the rest of the DR staff, seem very nice to me.

My reasons for not using them are finincial and out of loyalty to BMT Micro, who have treated me great over the years. But if they did manage take over everything, I don't think it would be too big of a deal.

I think that for someone that sells so much, a difference between 20% and 10-15% is a big gain... ;) also considering that regnow doesn't have anything to special to justify that extra 5% (10% more in the case you're using Plimus).

I've been using Digibuy (http://www.digibuy.com/), (also owned by Digital River), and often wondered how DR's acquisition of Digibuy has changed their SOP. So far, I've noticed nothing good or bad, and have stayed with them for their reasonable 13.9% take.

Jessica Dewell is part of the DR staff? So you mean, DR is running the ASP now too?!? (She's the new ASP President). Wow, I knew DR had a hold on the industry but I didn't realize it was that big a hold. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing for the ASP.

I believe that Jessica is one of the Regnow founders, and pretty high up in the DR chain. I know the small checks I receive from RegNow are signed by her.

Oops!
I always address my necessary questions about RegNow directly to her personal email...

I should try to ask Big Bill about some problems with Windows. :D
