Hi Folks,

i've finished a game and now i don't know what to do with it. I'm too lazy (not interrested - to be honest) to publish it myself, so i've uploaded the game to RealArcade.com and they reviewed it, but they don't like to publish it because they already have a similar game in there product line.

To be honest, i hav'nt thought much about publishing it so what should i do now? Are there any other sites like RealArcade that distribute games through the web?
I really don't know what do do so any ideas about how to distribute the game are highly appreciated.

Pleas let me know if you have an ideas and thanks in advance,
Mike

As some of you may have seen, I am in the process of launching an indie marketing site (www.vgsmart.com).

For a % of proceeds we could setup all the neccessary parts to sell your product. Go by the website and take a look. (Or e-mail/PM me)

Alternatively, you can try bigfish games. Alternatively alternatively, you could try activemark, but I wouldnt really expect them to give you any large number of sales.

You could also try Reflexive Arcade (http://arcade.reflexive.com/developer.aspx) but be warned that it will take some effort. You have to call the Reflexive Arcade API to integrate the purchasing system inside your game. The end result is better than a wrapper but harder to implement. But once you have your game in the Reflexive Arcade, it will be distributed on dozens of affiliate web sites and will appear inside dozens of other Reflexive Arcade enabled games. Each game in Reflexive Arcade has an “Other Games” button that cross promotes the other games in Reflexive Arcade. This is not a link to a web site but a little game preview inside the game.

You could also use Softwrap (http://www.softwrap.com). Their wrapper is very easy to use and they will do some distribution for you.

Thanks!
Terin, your site looks verry promising! Would you also promote the game if it's freeware? I know we would not make any money...
So would you do it?

To be honest i would prefer to distribute the game as freeware as to sell just a few hunderd peaces a month. (And as i've seen here on the boards, a few hundred sales a month are aimed much too high)

James, thanks for the info about Reflexive Arcade and Softwrap.

Thanks again for the info,
Mike

Well, im here to make money. Not MUCH money, lol, but still money.

I couldn't do a ton of work for you to promote a game that is free unless there were some alternate way of making money off it. Maybe if I could use it for my other clients, but then, what would YOU get out of it? For instance if a client wanted something to drive traffic to their site, a freeware game could be just the ticket. Perhaps one of my sites would be willing to make you an offer to buy the rights to your product. Anything is possible, but my advice is to send me an e-mail and we can talk about it.
