Everywhere I look there is a new site for indie games, which is the one that will emerge the victor, they are spreading too thin! will it be madmonkey.net, ludumdare, gametunnel, diygames?
downloadpal?
I wish there was 1 or 2 popular indie sites getting a few more hits...
Anyone care to place your bets?
There's also SharewareGaming.com
I had a look at all of these sites and none of them have all I want in an indie game site.
Together they pretty much cover everything. What I would like to see is much of this sort of stuff under one roof.
The ones that I liked the best were GameTunnel, DIYGames and SharewareGaming.
DIYGames does news the best (but seem to be on holiday at the moment).
Both GameTunnel and SharewareGaming seem good sites for people looking for games and reviews. The problem is that they both only have 6 reviews. GameTunnel has a link to SharewareGaming at the top of their page
Perhaps it would be worth having some sort of affiliation where they can store links to each others reviews in their database. Pehaps just have a page for the reviews saying 'We don't have a review for this one but they do ---->'

Don't they all carry pretty much the same things?

Yes good idea. I plan to plug gametunnel when I next update. I really like the idea of linking directly to reviews of games I haven't reviewed and unless the other sites object I think I'll implement that in my next update as well. I was talking to the gametunnel guys(via email) and we were trying to discuss ways we could help eachother out. I think you've hit on a nice one.
The biggest problem with sharewaregaming is that I don't really have all the time and resources to devote to it that it really needs. Honestly if I knew about half the other sites that sprouted up I may not have started it simply because it's no longer needed in the same way that I use to think it was. I guess others saw the same need. My hope is that eventually I can get some volunteers to help with reviews and articles etc.... As a developer I don't feel that comfortable reviewing other people's stuff. I'd prefer to leave that to someone more independent. But I'm also more interested in giving players a place to find out about games. My plan for now is to keep adding reviews and content at the best pace I can. The site is essentially just a hobby thing for me. Who knows... perhaps it will grow into more than that.

I was thinking of that the other night to tell you the truth. I think it's a pretty cool idea that I'm looking into at the moment.
