Hi everyone,

I've just released my latest game, Bug Squash, and was wondering if I could get some constructive criticism.

It's an action/puzzler type game. It has a built-in level editor and multiplayer capabilities.

A title screen shot is at:

The shareware demo is at:

Bug Squash v1.0 (http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/145730-YKTW/bugsetup.exe)

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Randy,

You may find that you will get more downloads if you provide screenshots of the gameplay. Maybe I missed them; but I could only find a screenshot other than the title screen?

Thanks for the advice, Sean. I don't know why I didn't add more screen shots. I guess I just missed it.

BTW, I took a look at your site, www.freelancegames.com. I liked it. The color scheme and overall layout was appealing to me.

Here's my updated product web page with the new screen shots:

Let me restate that the game is single player as well as multiplayer. It has a built-in editor. It has 50+ levels with the first 10 levels unlocked. It is an action/puzzler and I developed it for the casual gamer market.

I hope some of you will take a chance to install this game. I would love to get feedback on the gameplay and such.

Heh, do you have any bigger screenshots? Just looking at the website, I have no idea what kind of game it is and how it might be played, and I think that is because I can't click on the screenshots to see bigger versions.

Yeah, that's much better. I think I have a better idea of what your game involves now with just a first impression (I'm at work now so I can't download it to try it).

Quick question: are those blocks the same blocks from The Legend of Zelda?

Thanks Sean for posting the screen shot for GBGames and adding my game to your site.

If the blocks in Bug Squash look similar to the blocks in Zelda then it is totally by coincidence that they look that way. I did most, if not all the graphics, using a program called Sodipodi.

Does anyone have an opinion on the gameplay, features and such?

Is there anything 'missing' in your opinion?

If it were me I improve the interface; I probably make it all mouse based; I had to refer to the help a number of times before I could figure out how to play. That would be my opinion at a glance.

I've just completed version 1.01 of Bug Squash. Here is a list of things I've fixed / added:

- reworked TMFX Studios logo
- fixed switch wall sound bug
- fixed spelling error in instructions ( bugg to bug )
- increased volume of midi music
- improved key control movement of paddle
- improved wall hit by paddle detection
- improved shifting wall paddle bounce
- added option between keyboard and mouse control
- fixed teleporter freeze bug
- repulsor and gravity well strength tweaked

Thanks to everyone who gave me their feedback. I really appreciate it!

I'm hoping to see what would make the gameplay more fun. Would increasing the challenge earlier in the game be better? What about the intelligence of the bugs? Should they be more intelligent? Does anyone have an obstacle or tile they would like to see in the game?

Thanks again for everyone's help!
