Looks like CyPR Media are working on a new section of their website that will work as a question and answer area for independent developers. Check it out by clicking on this (http://www.cyprmedia.com/ask.html). Good stuff.

Very interesting! Thanks for the pointer.

Further evidence of the growth of the indie games sector of the industry. I feel pretty sure this is one of those things that will look obvious in a few years, maybe less.

I noticed that one of their clients was/is Silver Creek Entertainment, which is Jonas' company. Can you (Jonas) tell us anything about them?

Not much yet Kerchen.

James Hill is the fella pictured there on the site and I met up with him at the IGC in Eugene, Oregon a few months back. Personally he seems to be a pretty nice guy but I can't really give you any feedback yet performance wise and it would be unfair to do so at this point.

He just started, so well have to see how things go. I guess if we out pace Microsoft, that will be a clue :)

From what I gather, he pretty much is into working on PR work with websites more so that print media and is involved with the PR work for Garage games.

Another company that you should look at is Al Harberg who runs DP Direct
http://www.dpdirectory.com/

A LOT of ASP members have a great track record with Al, and his prices are pretty good and is more broad in his media that he sends press releases too.

Anyhow, time will tell how effective CyPR will be. Hopefully very :)

I've done several press releases with Al Harberg. It's been pretty good. For instance Twilight Mahjong got a 1/4 page blurb in smart computing magazine which led to many sales. I think Al concentrates more on mainstream print media though, whereas cypr, from what I saw on their site might have a focus on indie game sites and online media. If that's true then maybe it's possible or even better to do press releases with both? (assuming no- or not too much overlap)

Hi, yes CyPR Media does focus on online media but we have had recent (the last year) coverage of our clients in leading print and broadcast media as well. These wins include the front page of the Wall Street Journal last month, Inquest, PC Gamer UK, the St. Louis CBS affiliate and on a radio show syndicated by Clear Channel Communications. In the past, we have also been covered in PC Gamer US, Computer Games Strategy Plus, Computer Gaming World, PCXL and other leading print publications.

Online is the most effective for the clients we have chosen to work with thus far and so that is the best place to focus when one has a limited budget, IMO.

That being said, one can not ignore the larger media and we certainly do not.

If you have any questions, comments etc. please let me know :)
