Hello all...

I'm new to this forum. I had bought Dweep many years ago and decided to give the Dexterity site a visit after my brother brought up that Dexterity might of been part of a shareware association group he was in.

So I found an indie game developer board!
I picked up C about a year ago when I decided to learn Gameboy Advance homebrew programming. During that phase I programmed a remake of the QBASIC classic, Gorillas. It's a game similar to Scorched Earth or Worms. Both Gorillas 1/2 that I made on the GBA were week long projects, and not commercially viable.

I now have a Tapwave Zodiac (palm-based gaming platform www.tapwave.com), a developers license with access to Tapwave's API, CodeWarrior 9 for Palm, and GapiDraw (a great API with portablity to Win32, Palm, PocketPC, and Symbian).

I'm ready to go, and have determination for making a commercially "viable" game. I would like to make a game that I feel I could sell, whether it's for $1 or $20. My platform of choice is currently the Zodiac, which is a hi-res Palm device with landscape 480x320 viewport. Though I am using GapiDraw which makes it fairly easy to port to other devices, so if the game permits portability, it is an option. My timeframe is two months. It's short, but is reasonable for me.

I was thinking of making a Gorillas port to the Zodiac, and make it as top notch as possible. Problem is my graphic artist friend no longer is in contact with me. I have some good pixel art and splash screens from the GBA games, but they'd need work for the new resolutions of the Zodiac.

I also made a port of the "Cave Run" type game. A game where theres a randomly drawn 2D cave and you're a "ribbon" that falls with gravity, and you hold down a button and it raises itself. Avoid walls kinda game. Very simple, sort-of fun, but needs serious work in the gameplay dept.

I'm wondering if there's a game idea someone has here that would work well on this device? I like to make games with random gameplay elements such as the two games above. A random landscape. No level designs or such. I like "keep it simple stupid" gameplay with elements that keep it fresh. I love games like Rampart, Discs Of Tron (a possible game idea in itself), and Tapper.

Also, is there any artists here that are good with pixel art? If so, better yet, do you have a game idea that can use your talent?

If you can help me out with getting a game to collaborate on, I am dedicated and ready. Just remember that 3D isn't so viable on the portable systems Im working on, so rule out 3D pretty much. I like games that are simple but fun. I don't have the timeframe to make hugely expansive games, so no SimCity.

I also have a website for my GBA games but it's being redeveloped to actually show something worth seeing. :)
