The Level Editor (http://legion.gibbering.net/phoebuscepheus/BallEditorV2R3.zip)
OK, I am holding a level design competition :)
When you run the editor, press F1 for controls until I make it a little more intuitive.
Basically it works like this, you design the level, upload the level file and post it here... If it is good, it will be entered in to the competion.
The prize, will be a free copy of the game when it comes out to the top 10 levels from each category. If you get more then one spot, I will give you the game, and a free level pack of your choice for each extra victory.
First place from each category gets:
" I run a logo company (around my town) and I could make you a free logo for any company name you want."
The entries will stop when I feel there were enough submittions. Please feel free to tell your friends about this competition and all...
The 3 categories that you can enter your levels in are the following:
Easy - Should be fairly simple levels, good for younger children
Average - Some difficult, some easy... but never to hard or too easy
Extreme - Very difficult levels... YOU MUST BEAT THEM BEFORE YOU SUBMIT IT. Any impossible submittions will be disregarded.
If you submit to the wrong category, we will rate it in the wrong category, so be sure to specify the correct category.
Judges will be the Structure Games staff members.
ONLY POST HERE IF YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
Your level now belongs to me.
I can edit it, and sell it.
I have complete rights over the content of your level, and the actual level design it self.
It is mine :)

Wanna tell us a little bit more about the game itself?

Well, I don't really think that is neccessary, the level editor has a stripped down version of the game in it.
Basically, you control the ball and try to get to the warp gate-y thing at the end... what else do you need?

hmmm... is there a limit to how many times we can enter? *insert evil laugh here*
Is there a special prize if I have five or more winning entries? :D

No limit to entries, you get a free level pack for every bonus victory. The first victory gets you a free version of the game.
If you win more then we have level packs, well then you will get something special. Maybe a signature graphic saying your username + won the contest.
Actually, I run a logo company (around my town) and I could make you a free logo for any company name you want.

Hey I downloaded your level editor and the game is quite fun. But I was wondering if I could be so bold as to request some changes :) After all - If your giving the level editor out with your game, it would be nice for your customers to have a more streamlined development tool.
Is there a way to fill larger sections of the grid with the 'ground' textures?
Could you please include some sample levels, just to see what kind of stuff your looking for?
The ground texture doesn't fit nicely into the grid - its a little bit bigger - this is really distracting.
Would it be possible to have all the different game element icons displayed in a row at the top of the screen - so then we can click on what we want to change the current selected game object to instead of pressing the up/down keys?
Can the map scroll if we move our mouse to the edge of the screen, instead of using the keys?
I realize some of these changes might take a while - but it would make a better and easier to use product. - You might then be able to get more people to create levels for your game.

1. No, not at the moment.
2. Maybe, but not right now :)
3. Change the grid size - click grid at the bottom right
4. Hmm, thats a good idea, I will send that request to our 'Special Programs' developer. The guy who made the map editor.
5. I requested that 2 days ago, he said that he would add that for the next version...
6. Shouldn't take too long, our developer made the entire editor in 3 days after I was complete with developing the game. But, right now he is busy making the real game able to load the maps, it isn't as easy as just copying and pasting the code as it created a real mess... Should be figured out within a few days. Either way, I am going to send this entire post over to the developer, let him do with it as he pleases :)

I'd need to see some screenshots and maybe a
little info about the game before I even think
about downloading this.
Nice idea though, I need levels done for my
game too :D !
Simon.

This is a weird competition! We are trying to win a prize that may or may not be worth it and in return we get to design the levels for your game? We have to upload them to this forum and then if "they are good enough" then they go to the competition? What is the name of the game? Is there anything on the web about it (screenshots, etc..)? Anything else we can do for you?
