Had a lot of hits from the following site today . . .

http://www.forum2all.com

Followed the link and it took me to a forum under the heading of "Game Sharing". Our games Coin World, Solid Spheres and OrbitZ are all listed as the full versions along with a code to download the full version at the bottom of the post.

Theres only about 2 pages of games listed but the list seems to be growing quite quickly.

Looks like it's hosted by http://www.ace-host.net/ so I've just sent an email off to them informing them.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Marc.

Yeah, I see SETH up there. Nobody wants to buy it, but they're eager enough to warez it. :P

EpicBoy

Hahaha, you gotta love it ...

I typed in one of the links for SETH, just for the hell of it, and a message pops up from that webmaster about how it's unethical to steal his bandwidth with direct linking and all this other nonsense.

Oh, the irony...

You can chat live to the support at Ace Host:

I spoke to Mac who left me with the impression that they were unlikely to do anything.

Perhaps if enough of us ask politely ;)

http://www.ace-host.net/terms.pdf

Quite clearly says:
Use of the Ace-Host.net service to transmit any material (...) that infringes any copyright, trademark ..., of any third party ... is cause for immediate account termination without refund!

Make it quite clear you are a copyright holder who's property/rights are being infringed.

hehe that standard host contract... i doubt if they ever read that.

also, try not to sound like that "see you in court" thread.

Good luck!

hehe that standard host contract...

Oh completely. The point is to not go after the guy who owns the website, the idea is to lean on the hosting company - its their rules that are being broken, so hold them to it. Marc's going about it the right way.

Its about time we made it too much effort to be worthwhile for these script kiddie goons to setup a warez site.
Ill follow up in 24 hours if the site is still live.
Pity about their bandwidth costs, I'd hate to think that their forums were getting repeated hits from any of us.

Hi Cliff,

We are taking actions to remove the files. Thank you for informing us of this breach of contract.

However, I do apologize, we cannot forward information regarding the individuals because of our privacy policy.

Thank you,

Nice work Cliff

Also had a response . . .

"Thank you for the information. We will look into this matter and take action.
Thanks again.

ACENET"

How about a seperate part of the forum where sites like this can be reported so that people can start doing something about it. Maybe one or two people could follow it up and try and get the sites taken down? I'd be happy to nominate myself to do the leg work.

Looks like they've switched host already & made it member only?

maxdgaming

LOL

They made it require log in now :D

"The following errors were found:

You must already have registered for an account before you can log in.
If you do not have an account, you may register by clicking the 'register' link near "

lol...

Yeah, in a bit of a bizarre move they require you to register before you can log in.

They've not moved host though. It is still AceHost.

Give them until tomorrow to take it down and if not I'll get back in touch with them.

Pity about their bandwidth costs, I'd hate to think that their forums were getting repeated hits from any of us.
that is if Cliff hasn't exceeded their bandwidth with one of his tricky little apps ;)

I'm trying with listgame.com. Apparently the russian friend hosts the site himself (at least, the IP resolves directly to his site), although ZoneEdit provides his DNS - I sent them an email reporting violation of TOS last week but I had no answer yet. Maybe if more people sent complaints...

cliffski

its still there...

The site is still accesible and the illegal content is still there. we will have to take further action if this content remains on your servers for another 24 hours. Please terminate this users account immediately. The content is a copyright breach and there is no need for delay.

dont let the ISP wring its hands of this kind of stuff, they KNOW its illegal, they obviously dont think they need to do anything about it. I'm reporting them to FAST at 11PM GMT tonight if its still there.
I put a lot of work into making games, no 12 year old script kiddie is going to give my work away for free

It looks to me like ace-host.net is just a reseller of gnax.net (they hold the net range that both IPs fall under).

gnax.net can be contacted at: abuse@gnax.net

they have closed my ticket saying

We have informed client to assure no copyrights are infringed.

well whoopy-do, but thats not good enough. These guys are thieves who should be prosecuted.
When I get home tonight Ill look up the law enforcement people relevant to where this ISP has its registered office and send a written complaint.
Dont accept this pathetic brush off from ISPS who make a living buy letting thieves set up their business.

cliffski
07-02-2004, 03:11 AM
my reply:

And the client has done nothing. Sorry, I thought this could be handled amicably, but as you show no interest in enforcing the removal of illegal content from your servers, you are quite clearly an accessory to copyright theft, and we will be taking steps to report you to the federationb against software theft and other relevant enforcement organisations in your country of business.
You are providing a service, knowingly and openly to people engaged in criminal activity, even after it has been bought to your attention. We take copyright infringement very seriously as it is a threat to our business. You had the easy option of shutting down a site that infringed your own terms of servce, but you have refused, this information alone is more than enough to take action against you in terms of financial compensation for lost business.

Looks like the "Game Sharing" section of the forum has been removed :)

A possible small victory for all of us but then again what's stopping them from just moving it to the "Members Only" or "Private FTP" section  Only time will tell.

cliffski

its still a big vitory, it makes it way harder for people to casually get hacked games. now they have to join the forum, make 50 posts to get access to the ftp bit, then still search for the game.
But i'm not happy with that. its clearly highly illegal what they are doing, and i intend to report the ISP to everyone I can to ensure they get bulleid inot taking this site down.
I also dont swallow any crap about their privacy policy. these people are breaking the law and the ISP has to cooperate with the feds ;)
If a few high school kids get a night in jail or a criminal record, then all the better. I dont work hard for pathetic losers on warez forums to steal my money.
bah!

There is still an open topic/post on :How to copy PS2 disks.

Cliffski,

You may want to send an email off to Sony, I am sure the Big Boys would take them down !

The games are all still there & being linked. I joined the forum yesterday as I expected them to go private. There's still a "games sharing" forum with links to a whole bunch of full shareware games. And the ftp section is still fully accessable too. You don't need 50 posts to see them, just be a member.

cliffski

i tried to join too but i guess they dont like my lionhead email address. Ill work out who their local police force is when I get home, ditto trading standards, tax office, anything i can find, they will all get a letter. Swine like this (and that includes unhelpfull ISPs) need jail time before they will behave reasonably.
its sad but true, its not like they havent been warned.

This thread makes me smile.

It would be awesome to have a whole forum for this stuff. If you spot a site, report it there and the wheels start turning to take the idiot down.

Even if only a few sites get what's coming to them, it'd be worth it.

latest response:

Site has been taken offline.

and they speak the truth.
note to everyone:
THIS WORKS.

if enough people band together we can actually get these sites taken down. There are some really annoyed script kiddies somehwere right now, and a whole bunch of people trying to get cracked games are getting an "account suspended" web page, which will make them think twice about what they are doing i hope ;)
good work team!

For crack sites (which is different to this one), the ASP do some stuff:

cliffski
07-02-2004, 01:33 PM
these guys are taking the biscuit. Ive reported them to microsoft and adobe, but for some reason the ISP thinks its all just a game.
They ae probably a business run from someones bedroom.
Just arguing now with some muppet called 'jo' on their live help crap.

it amazes me how some businesses think its fine to screw over another business, which is what these guys are doing. If you have seen your game pirated on their site, and you have good ideas as to how to get these people put in jail (including the ISP) please post them here.
ESPECIALLY if you are from the US and know the correct procedure to get this company:

ACENET INC

645 Griswold Street - Suite 1300
Detroit, MI 48226

Investigated for copyright breach.

I don't know the laws. I do know that webhostingtalk.com is a popular webhost forum. Maybe they could tell the best way to get an ISP shut off.

cheers
heres a handy site i just made use of:
https://www.bsa.org/usa/report/Reporting-Form.cfm

This morning i got an email from them claiming they had now taken the site down for good, but thats crap as its still up. Im stil working my way through every enforcement organisation I can find to get this ISP put out of business and its owners in court.
When the ISP is on the pirates side, it becomes a sick joke.

I dont even have any cracked software on that site, its just the principle of people deliberately targeting small 1 man companies to wreck peoples livelihoods. I hope someone ends up in prison for it. ;)

It looks like the website in question (http://www.forum2all.com/) is being hosted by www.ace-host.net which in turn had their DNS registered through godaddy.com's Domain By Proxy (https://registrar.godaddy.com/dbp.asp?isc=&se=%2B&from_app=&mscssid=&pl_id=1&prog_id=GoDaddy) service.

Since it appears that the ISP and website owner are one and the same, I'm going to send an email to godaddy's abuse team. I hope they can pull the plug on the whole thing.
