Do you like and would buy games such as Dweeb, Traffic Jammer, Hexvex, Fitznik, Peg Sweeper? or would generally not consider it.
I suspect that most computer gamers would steer clear of those sorts of game because, although usually very well presented, most people I know seems to appreciate the idea while not finding the games particularly entertaining.
Sorry about the playign typo

I sort of enjoy playing some of them, but they're not relaxing. I'm a girl of simple tastes - I want easy, or I want action with big booms (and still fairly easy). Detailed puzzle-solving is a little too much like work, especially without any reward besides getting another puzzle. (As opposed to adventure games, where struggling through the puzzle should reward you with story advancement.)
So while I will poke at the puzzles in demos briefly (And give up quickly if it's too hard), I don't feel at all inspired to pay for the privilege. I'm not the right target audience for this. :) It's my mother who was the crossword and Freecell-solver in the family, not me!

Good point.
It begs the question are these games being marketed to the right market eg Mature Ladies as opposed to Computer Gamers?

I can't believe someone named PegSweeper as an example of anything at all! This made my day. I'm crying :)

I occasionally play puzzle games, but I never liked one enough to buy it. I usually get my puzzle solving fix from programming, so when I play games, I either want mindless action or something that touches me on an emotional level.

Poking through my hard drive, the games that my wife and I play fall into two categories.
Long term, for when we actually want to spend a few hours playing a game, eg, Neverwinter Nights, In Memoriam, and NetHack.
Short term, when one of us wants to spend 10-15 minutes playing a game between doing other things. For me that's Alien Flux, Playtpus and Mutant Storm (which I must buy). For her, it is things like Bricks of Egypt and Penguin Puzzle.
The closest that we came to buying a turn based puzzler was Chromentum, which was very well presented. We played the demo all the way through, but didn't get an urge to part with money for it. Hexvex and Rocknor's Donut Factory also came close, but it would appear that there's something about the genre that just stops us from buying.
It is ironic that we'll both happily sit down with Rush Hour, a physical game, which if it were on a computer would be a turn based puzzler.
They are far outweighed by educational titles aimed at our 3 year old. Now, to borrow a phrase, "there is gold in them tharr hills." Have you seen the crap that is out there for kids?

It's related to my old question/idea about rpg/puzzle cross. For thoese who fell turn-based puzzle are not rewarding enough, would it be more rewarding if you get powerups based on your performance/scoring ? Which would your prefer - permanent or temporary powerups ?
