I'm losing emails sent to me, which is horrible. My website is hosted at PowWeb and I use their email services - I have a nice @MysteryStudio email address which forwards to a real POP3 account from my ISP.
My ISP's account works fine, the problem seems to be with PowWeb's redirection.
Can you recommend email forwarding provider which lets me use my own domain? (By the way, can it be done, given that I can touch my DNS records?)

http://www.domainsite.com
I've used these guys for a few years with no complaints, but I must admit, I have not tried them with a lot of e-mail traffic. If you register your domain with them, e-mail forwards are free with the domain. Their control panel is very easy for setting things up, and lets you manage DNS records if you want so you have some flexibility, like pointing the MX record at a different mail server later on. For a little extra they can also host mail accounts.

redirection.net - they redirect domain names and email, i use them, they are pretty good (they are the same people who do tera-byte.com ) and only $5 per year. you are going to have to point your dns to them tho...
or why dont you put a contact form on your website and have the emails sent directly to your pop - that would also cut down on your spam.

I highly recommend MailSnare, www.mailsnare.net. I don't know if they provide email forwarding only, I use them for a complete email solution. The cost is low.
I have an enhanced account with virtual domain hosting, which costs about $30 a year for a complete email solution. They have packages that are even cheaper. $30 gets me 1GB monthly bandwidth and 100MB of storage space. They have been easy to work with, responsive to support requests, have an active support forum, and have handled some technically intensive periods of incoming email for me when other email providers had simply shut me down. Also, I have been very satisfied with their spam and virus filtering.
