To the person who is insulting and threatening people : don't. No need to be aggresive.
To the person who said we are posting fake serials and trojans... don't. Let them lose lots of time figuring out what is real and what is not (it's alredy getting hard for me!). No need to warn them. Once they waste too much time, they will move on.
To the person who answered the "want alien flux" post saying "buy it" : the fake posts are so damn good even you fell for it :)

Umm?
You can't start a topic, and give no explanation of what it is about?

I think he's claiming that list dot com is actually anti piracy, it's all bogus crack and message boards, used to redherring pirats

Mr. MacDonald : bloody hell, not what I meant at all. Indeed, it was full of people exchanging serials, until some hours ago. Please visit the forum and try to find the few authentic posts between the flood of autogenerated, useless ones.

ooohhhh Irony overload.
Just to recap:
* You don't like insulting or threatening messages.
* You are flooding your own message boards with fake serial posts instead of moderating it.
* You admit that your site was a home for serial number exchanges
Yet you come here, be semi-abusive and still don't seem to be moderating your boards.
Well, Thanks for stopping by.

Mr. ScrewBall, you got it completely backwards. What makes you think I'm the russian guy that runs that site? I'm just making it useless because I got tired to see indie games (including mine) freely exchanged there. I PMed you with more details.

Spamming a message board isn't the answer.

Mr. ScrewBall : it's not ideal, but it apparently works. If you have a better idea, please share it!

Great job PH
Hehe... This concept of a serialz/warez site intentionally filled with fake everything (codes, shareware downloads, etc...) amuses me to no end. If there was a whole network of these, *and* they had the top spots on search engines, that would be a nice anti-piracy strategy.

Spamming a message board isn't the answer.
Normally, I would agree with you on this. However, if you go over to that board and look closely, it is all messed up. Posts are within a few minutes of each other and lots of wrong serials & bogus requests. It's a beautiful thing.
Once PirateHunter is bored with this, listgame will go back to normal. Hopefully, the forum is just taken down.

Oh, don't worry, Python scripts never get bored and this takes so little bandwidth...

I gotta tell you guys one thing... if someone started a business, doing this PROFESSIONALLY, I'd definitely pay my monthly fee, lol.
I dunno if it's legal PirateHunter, but it is indeed nice to see.

Mr. Raptisoft : I appreciate your concern, but I believe what I'm doing is perfectly legal. I'm posting messages through the ASP script developed to do so. The site doesn't demand registering so I'm not legally required to provide accurate information (that would be my name and email).
About charging a fee - no need! I protect my own games, I protect your games, and I have lots of fun - I'd feel bad charging for a hobby ;)

Mr. Prince : I appreciate your kind words. You may notice one of the game names that keeps popping up is Alien Flux, so if anything, this will raise its profile :) You should use this opportunity to improve the controls :D (sorry lad, I couldn't resist)

@PirateHunter : I first checked the forum and it seemed to work normally... but then I understood that was the point :) Keep it up!
@Cas : We agree again. This is what, the 2nd or 3rd time in the year? What's going on?

That is such a dodgy site - I hope you've all got your anti-virus software active when you visit it, because when I went to check out your handywork a pop-up window from listgame.com tried to deposit a trojan virus on my machine - "Exploit-MhtRedir.gen".

I still wonder why I have never been able to reach said site, ever. They can't be blocking the whole UK or some of you wouldn't be getting through...

Ms. papillon : They don't seem to be blocking all of the UK.

Nice comic relief. I didn't know if to laugh since its a joke or to cry because my game isnt important enough to be there... :o

And even if it WAS illegal... you think that they'd complain to the authorities that somebody is spamming their boards and preventing users from obtaining REAL piracy information?

Mr. gilzu : Please accept my apologies. Goose Chase will be included in the next "release" of my script.
In fact, I'd appreciate a list of game names, since I just picked a couple from the front page of several big distributor sites. PM me such a list if you have one. A list of fake usernames would be of great help as well.

I reckon you could, too. But if you don't want to, well, that's very good of you.
If you maintained a database of game names, and a database of sites to hit, this could be an excellent service.
PirateHunter
07-10-2004, 08:13 AM
Mr. Raptisoft, Mr. Pyabo, Mr. Flack : I really take that as a compliment :)
But as I said, my intention never was to profit from this. I make games, that's what I love to do, and that's what I'll continue doing. This is the result of a Python script I hacked in an hour and provided me lots more in entertainment - you could say I got my money's worth :)
In fact I gave this script to two other developers from this board which in turn added new game names and user names, message templates and so on. I'll be glad to share it with more developers if it proves effective and once I adapt it to post to other message boards and forums as well.

The fun goes on and on - the script now has a friend, another script, which replies to posts saying "thanks", "it didn't work", or "beware it's a trojan" :)

How about a new one that just starts new threads with randomly generated game names:
'Super Sheep Manager'
'Bust-a-pop 4 Deluxe' etc.
:p
PS: We actually started Super Sheep Manager (& canned it after we sobered up)
