Allow me to introduce myself. I am a game developer and a moderator at GameDev.net (http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/).
I would have emailed Steve Pavlina directly but I can't find the address. I suspect that he doesn’t display it publicly or he would get flooded with spam or possibly emails with a similar topic to this post.
I read the Personal Productivity articles here about 1.5 years ago. It was one of the best things I have ever done. I found them so enlightening that I printed them out and read them a second time and then a third and then some even more.
I recall, thinking about how accurate they were in pointing out where I had room for improvement. (Also the “Zero-Defect Software Development” article did a lot for my code).
One and a half years on I am in the process of starting a business (not in game development for the time being, but in other computer areas). I have found the other articles amazingly helpful in aspects of planing, goal setting and even simply in inspiring me.
Tonight for a little light reading I have dug out the printouts of the articles (they were the first of many articles I have in a shelf beside my bed) and read them again. Now I am no longer thinking about how they show where I have room for improvement. Now I am reading them and thinking: “hey, I do that”. These articles have seriously helped me to improve the signal to noise ratio of how I spend my time on the computer as well as real life.
I would like to say a very big “Thankyou” to Steve Pavlina for the articles. They have improved me as a person many times over. I would recommend that anyone who hasn’t read them should check them out immediately.
Thanks,
Andrew Russell
