FYI there's a new worm presently going around the net which has been causing a general slowdown of many sites:

The worm attacks Windows 2000 servers, and it appears to be especially severe in South Korea, where it even knocked their major ISP offline.

The last time it happened nobody was caught. I wonder what the consequences would be if they found out who did it?

SQL Slammer totally killed the network at my house late friday night. We were running SQL on a 2K machine as a test bed for the web-site before it goes live.

It started sending data at an unbelieveable rate. It wouldn't respond to anything.. and none of the other machines on the network could do anything.

Crazyness.. all patched now though.

i wonder if this is the same virus that crashed the backbone of huge servers(there are only 6 or 7 of these servers to run the web) :(

I think there's 13 root servers and I herd that it did take out 6-7 of them.
