Has anyone here had much experience with big game web sites like IGN and avault, gamespy, etc... Do these website care about the indie developer like us ? My guess is they don’t.
Do we have like a game review site yet that's interviews and posts news about indie developers ?
Maybe we should have our own indie game show I3.

Actually, Garage Games (http://www.garagegames.com) is putting together an independent game developer conference (http://www.indiegamescon.com) in early November this year, located in Eugene, Oregon. There will be some heavy emphasis on the Torque engine, but it still may be of interest to the indies here.
Still, I think "indie" has become a popular term in game development lately, and not everyone thinks it means the same thing. I'd say it's someone who is not funded by a major game publisher, but a game mag or site can cover quite a number of "indie" AAA titles before they get down to the smaller titles. And they may very well examine them under the very same microscope.

I havn't bought my tickets yet but rainfallstudios game designer and I are planning on attending the IGC as it is within driving range and is resonably priced.
I have noticed that www.avault.com will review indie game and games made by small lablels that arn't nessisairly mainstream. It's probably the only reason I visit their site over the others.
Heh I bought "Anarchy Online" the day it came out, I was pleased to see a glowing review from ign.com on the cover.
Whith such a rock solid product it would be no surprise if anarchy online dominates it's competition ... as the top online title for years to come.
If any of you played that game in the first 3 weeks it was absolutly unplayable, the servers crashed ever 5 min. They had huge problems with their network infrastructure, routers etc. The whole thing was a joke. Textbook example of another unprepaired MMORPG release. I guess from that point on I didn't really trust any of the big game sites because they seem like they'll say anything for a $.

I know that Gamespot regularly has news stories on indie titles, so does Avault. CGW regularly features indie titles in their pages. Although they're not "major" gaming sites, Frictionless Insight does reviews of indie titles, and Gamersclick has interviews with indie developers from time to time.
Look for reviews of Strange Adventures In Infinite Space and Laser Squad Nemesis to see all the sites that are willing to feature indie game titles.
As for a game show, GarageGames is having one in November. Pretty expensive for such a small gig ($150 advance registration), but i'll be flying up to check it out.
There was the illfated XGDC. It went on for about 3 years but died a painful death. The reasons are varied, but lack of promotion of any kind (even website updates for months at a time) and too many technical speaches were the main reasons in my opinion.

Thanks for the help.
I went for a search on the internet and I found the garage games conference and web site. Good to see garage games working with the small time game makers.
I live in australia so I don't think i will be atending the garage games conference. Maybe next year.
