I've noticed that Unipong seems to support resolution switching on some machines, and not others. I've installed the demo on four different machines. On two of them, the game display fills the entire screen. On the other two, the game display just uses the upper-left part of the screen, and the rest of the screen is filled with the green background color (it appears it isn't switching the display mode down to what the game uses). The specs on the two machines where it doesn't use the entire screen are:

(1) WinXP, geForce3, DirectX 9

(2) Win2000, geForce4ti, DirectX 9

For the two machines where it does use the entire screen:

(3) Win2000, Radeon 7500, DirectX 8.1

(4) Win2000, geForce4ti, DirectX 9

Any clue on how I can get it to switch display modes on the first two machines, so it uses the entire screen?

Thanks.

Spec #2 and #4 are the same it seems, so it is prob not the combo of adapter/DX version/OS -- we haven't seen it fail to resize (accept on Macs) before. Could you give some more details -- e.g. other applications running at the time, etc. Also, is a possible difference between #2 and #4 the version of adapter drivers they are using?

thanks for playing

Okay, I figured out what the first two machines had in common. Quite some time ago, I ran RefreshForce (http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/) on both of them. I ran RefreshForce again, and had it restore the default settings. This took care of the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unipong is a very nicely done game. I really like the philosophy of deriving depth of gameplay from the careful integration of a few simple elements. I was completely dumbfounded that Unipong wasn't one of the IGF finalists.

Glad it worked out -- and glad you enjoy the game. We, too, were a little surprised not to get to be a finalist, but there were a lot of good games this year.
