Hi, I have been lurking here for a while, and I am really interested in game development. I would absolutly love to make a small platformer game - unfortunatly I do not know a single scrap of programming code stuff - I'm not generally too clever on that kind of stuff.

I'm interested in making this game as a sort of part-time hobby to amuse myself, I'm not doing it too seriouse. What do you reccomend for me to use to make this game - are there any decent free game development apps around that would be good for a platformer - or would I have to code? I'm a designer and artist primarily, so if you guys could tell me an easy option - it would be well appreciated. Is there any super duper easy code out there?

I can't vouch for this application, but it looks decent enough, and sounds like it would do what you want for starting out: The Scrolling Game Development Kit (http://gamedev.sourceforge.net/)

Have fun!

Hi Rancid. Take a look at this recent thread (http://www.dexterity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=450) for some discussion on this.

Wow - that scrolling thing looks great - and it's the right price!

Another one to look at (also free) is game maker. From my limited experience with both programs, game maker seems to produce higher quality results.
