While in Portugal it is common NOT to translate games or movies (except children ones) I do know that in most countries, all (or almost all) games get some kind of localization. This also happens to books and movies.

Now, it is expensive (unless you have proficient foreign language family members :)) to get your game translated to 5 or more other languages (specially if there is a lot of dialogue) but wouldn't this be a good step to attract more sales on non english speaking countries?

I personally plan to support English, Portuguese (well duh :)), Spanish (My father is from Venezuela) and French (my mother used to be a french teacher heh). I wanted to support German but can't think of a viable person I would trust to do this.


I reckon we do have lots of people from all different countries here, would it be possible to make a database of the most common phrases or words (New Game, Save, Resolution, Up, etc etc) contributed by the folks here in their own language?

I can help you with polish translation if you care... unless it's >5kb of text.

For my game I get all translations from family members or some enthusiast that wanted to do it for game or so... but I didn't have much to translate (about 60words + 15 phrases)

About translation quality.. it seems ok, noone said a bad word about it.

I could do the german translation. If it's not too much text and you (or your mother) can help me with french someday...

Of course Denmark is a very small market (5.3 million people).
