Ok, I'm prety sure everyone here is at least familiar with Unreal Tournament. Well, UT is a game that is mostly designed for multyplyer purposes, and single player was included imho for practise only. Everything resolves about fragging your nieghbour or brother.

Then there was once One Must Fall. It had two modes, arcade, with a story (ok, with two pages of text for each character) and career mode. The last one being nothing more than progressing through leagues, getting better, enhancing your robot and skills, no goal except reach number one.

Now, is a game that follows the same principles as these, single player, arena based, no story, sell? Of course, to make a decent game, progression of player would be necessary (such has joining better teams, upgrading the robtos/ships/whatever, get more money and that way get better weapons, accept sponsors, join new leagues, etc etc).

I have a really nice game idea, the engine is partly done, and its starting to be fun to play, but the game itself is not much more than simple capture the flag or deathmatch style games.

Is this a viable idea for a game that is to be sold as single player product?
