just curious, but, is there a big market for medieval warbased shareware games? I haven't seen very many of them (1 or 2) so I think I have a pretty good chance, but then again I've never created a game before.

You mean like Age of Empires? Or turn based?

Why? Its not like he will spend his life saving developing a game.

He could spend his life savings supporting himself not having a job while doing so. :)

Wargame is quite broad turn. Can you be more specific here?

If you mean "hardcore" hexogonal wargames, they have market, and it is quite unsatisfied. It is a niche market though. Also, risk-like games are quite popular thanks for Paradox and their "Europa Uneversalis" and "Heart of Iron". Both had good sales and gathered a good big comunity.

Battlefront.com is very successful selling their wargames thru internet, you may want to check their site.

Ugh. Turn-based wargames such as Europa Universalis are so much better on a board, i.e. Diplomacy. But that's just me.

Personally, I prefer 4X-type games, generally in space (I bought Space Empires IV recently - love it). Master of Orion 3 was too cluttered, which is something I often find in most wargames...if you decide to do one, you may have better luck going the TacOps route.

like a Kessen style war game, you know, where you control an army and beat the heck out of other armies (not turn based by the way).
