Can I get some feedback on whether you people think I could actually get sales on a game I am creating? I think it's just a few weeks from being done, and i'd like to try to earn a few bucks on it. You can check out screenshots at www.piebert.netfirms.com I'd really like input on whether you think the screenshots no good, or if it is potentially marketable.

Thanks!

As for the game.. I have no idea I'm afraid, I've not yet sold a game of my own.

BTW, in the fourth screenshot, how did the tank get to the top of that pillar?

Hmmm, it reminds me of an old tank game I played about 20 years ago on a "TV game system" as they were called in those days.

It's difficult to comment on whether the game will sell based on those screen shots alone.

The game looks like it might well be fun to play, which is why providing a playable demo is a must for this kind of game (I'm assuming it's a two player game?).

That's just a screenshot before I made it so you can't just glide over any terrain ;X

There's a few ideas i'm still tossing around for terrain traversal. One is having slopes that you can drive up. Another is having elevators, and the last is totally redoing the terrain to be "smooth" and kind of like scorched earth's, in that if you blow it up it goes away.

I'll give you guys some additional information since I don't have a playable demo set up yet. It is a 1 player game, with several "computer" opponents. It is stage based, a la Super Offroad. Each stage you destroy as many of the other computer opponents as possible, and after everything is destroyed everyone is ranked, and given money based on the damage they caused.

The money is then used to buy new weapons, and the game goes on ad infinitum. I'm also thinking of adding in some "bonuses" for additional money, like having people walking around that you can run over or shoot for cash.

Well, hopefully i'll get some comments on whether it is commercially viable or not! Thanks!

Must admit, I'm rather liking the idea of the terrain being blown away (as in Scorch) that could be interesting.

Yes, I like the idea as well. I'm just wondering how hard the implementation will be. It would definately be interesting, seeing as how my two main influences for this game were Scorch and Super Off Road ;)

SO erm.. I hate to nag, but does anyone think the graphics are OK, and the idea looks OK for actually selling a few copies? I'm not looking to make a fortune, to be honest, if I make 20-40 copies total sold i'd be happy. Is that too out there? I mostly would just like to try to break even to see if I can actually sell things, and to have a tester for my 3d shooter that is in development.

I haven't tried the game, so I can't say anything about that, but from the screenshots I would definitely say the graphics do NOT look OK. No matter how fun the game might be, I think you'd be hard pressed to get someone to even consider downloading it with those screenshots.

Hmm ok that helps a little bit. I was considering hireing someone to redo some of the graphics for me, perhaps I should look into that avenue a little more. I kind of liked the simple look of the game, but perhaps that's just because I created it :)
