Sorry to waste space but I'm excited. I just got my first two sales! Plus my game, "Runaway Railroad," has apparently been downloaded 1,400 times at download.com (I have no idea how many times total.) One sale appears to be a friend of a friend (don't recognize the name but I know people from that town) but the other is a fellow from Oklahoma.

Congratulations! I went through the same thing recently :) One month, two sales, around 800 downloads. Still waiting to be listed on download.com.com!

Congratulations! It is indeed exhilarating to know that somebody liked what you made enough to pay for it!
As an aside, I'm from Oklahoma and it's nice to know people there buy shareware... too bad I've yet to get a sale from my home state. :(

Don't want to be polemic, but, have you thought about lowering a bit the price? as far as I know, people don't consider puzzle games to be priced a lot (in your case 19.95$), despite the work you put creating it.
Well, here in Italy, if people can have something for free, they will (piracy anyone? :P)
Talking back seriously, you could give a shot selling the game at a reduced price for a while and see how this impact the sales (even if the game is out from little time, so you may wait some weeks).
Also remember that summer is the worst season to put out new games! :(

Where in Oklahoma? If I'd known there were other indies there (DavidRM is in Tulsa), I'd have stayed. Well, that's not true, I hated Oklahoma and I have fallen in love with Florida.

Originally from Oklahoma City, later I moved to Piedmont (which is just on the outskirts of OKC).

Yeah, I have many friends and acquantances who live in Tulsa... no indies among them though. It's a nice city... I wouldn't mind living there myself. Much nicer than OKC.
Well, that's not true, I hated Oklahoma and I have fallen in love with Florida.
I don't hate Oklahoma, but that's probably because I was born here and have lived here all my life... But I can certainly understand why you would dislike it. Especially if you're comparing it to Florida. I recently went on vacation in Orlando and I loved it. Nice weather (if a bit humid), and very well taken care of! That is, at least the tourist areas. ;) The non-tourist areas and non-metropolitain areas are about par I guess.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you like where you are now. As an aside, with regard to the recent thread about doing what makes you happy, I'd probably be happier living elsewhere, with the caveat that I'd be leaving all my family and everyone I know. So because of that factor, I'd probably not be as happy... how 'bout you? Where are you from originally and how did you deal with leaving?

Congratulations! It's a great feeling to get your first sale, for sure!
My first sale was quickly followed up by my first Tech Support email ! I got it taken care of, though!
Another great one to look for is your first "I love your game" email. The first email I got justified all the hard work and effort I put into the game!
