this site is quite famous amongst the retro-abandonware fans.
They often publicize some budget or shareware games, and since they have a lot of visitors, it may be good to submit your demo to them.
Not sure how it works though (i.e. if they take a percentage or they choose only the games they really like).

Considering 99.9% of all the games there are "free", and that is what draws in the visitors, I doubt you would generate many sales by having your game included there.

Maybe it's true.
But at least if you get them download the demo you use less bandwidth :)
And they write a review of your game... if it is good may convince some player to buy it.

I'm planning on approaching them when I'm done (it's non-exclusive iirc, so no harm done) but I have specific reasons - I'm targeting fans of a specific game that isn't available in English, and I *know* fans of that title visit the underdogs and poke at their page on that game, hoping a legal English version will one day materialise. :)
(Oh, wait, you linked to just a game review? No, I'm talking about the actual underdogs *store*, which has a "Please, indie developers, sign up to sell games with us!" message. http://www.the-underdogs.org/store/ - But they don't have many games on offer, and I have no idea if they've been moving them at all.)
I'm not sure that a generic-seeming game would sell at all well there, since there are so many free puzzle-card-action-whatever games to choose from. Really hot graphics might make an impact, since most underdogs games are a bit elderly. Or finding something obscure and beloved where there *is* no modern version and luring fans of the old into the new.
I'm not planning on relying on them as my total sales channel, but again, it's non-exclusive, and it might work in my particular case. :)

Ah! didn't know that link LOL
well since they're accepting only Paypal payment it is a bit crap... customers may see it as a bad thing...
But they seems to have some strong points:
Significant exposure on Home of the Underdogs (HOTU). The fact that HOTU Store is part of the site gives us a unique opportunity to promote your product. We have over 25,000+ unique daily visitors.
also:
So what's all of this going to cost? Very little, compared to traditional registration services. We charge only 10% of transaction fee, with no minimum charge. If you price your game at $8, for example, we will keep $0.80 for each copy sold and give the rest to you. We will host all your downloads on our own server and charge nothing for the space or bandwidth (RegNow.com, for example, will charge you 1 US cent per 1 MB transferred). There is no up-front or monthly fee, and no other charges.
Not bad. Shame about the Paypal thing.
They have some good link though. Matrix games? never heard of them... I'll go check :)

From our experience with HOTU, games in thier store tend to do better if they are sub $10.
Most of thier visitors are not there to shop, but to discuss games. Thier shop is very new, and still not properly off the ground yet.
Thier forums are very popular, but they do seem very keen on stratergy/adventure games, rather than arcade type affairs.
As for Matrix games. They are prtty big. Very big in fact. But, again, they seem geared toward Stratergy/Wargames. They are after all types of indie games to publish, but at the moment ALL there games are war games.
So you can be sure the vast majority of thier visitors ( and there are many ) will be mainly interested in war-gaming.
Hopefully, with time, Matrix can get up there with GG, and dexterity.
If you have a good wargame, certainly approach them.

Thanks for info :)
It seems to me that they focus mainly on wargames at the moment :)
I'd love to make a wargame, but first I must finish my first game :)
I haven't found any info for developers in their site, though...

Jack, are you talking about Matrix?
They have a developer link at the bottom of thier left hand side user menu:-
