hi Neuromanc, i started to play your game ( as Duke ) i could even excite a friend of mine to join the game too The conzept of your game seems very cool and i allready have fun playing it I like your turn system very much! The strategy concept (with cb and sk etc. ) is very cool, too Your promo video gives great insight, but i have to mention that the use of the editor looks a little unprofessional ( but somehow cool XD) I recogniced a few typing mistakes on your site, do you want me to tell you them? Here some thoughts: (1) if there are many players on one server the blackmarket could get a little confused, maybe some filter functions ( for a spezial player or type) would help then. the navigation isnt so easy yet (2) i would like to see a link to the wiki from the playinterface, so i could easily look up any detail about the actions i m thinking of. (3) maybe some tooltips on the actions would be nice, to give a short remind what an ation does. its pretty cool that the game has its on comunication system (4) but i think it would be cool if there would be a posibilty to see the messages i sent. Or to have kind of a chat running (5) i would like to be able to sort the ranking according to sk, to let me know on which enemies i could have a better chance of succes. (6) It would be nice if the clock on the page, would show the server time and not the computer time. So you would have it easier if you are from a different time zone. All these are just some thoughts as inspiration i really like and enjoy your game, and so far i didnt see anything that didnt work great work ! (7) the page which shows detailed information about me, doesnt scale right (8) are there some cases when missinformation cant be performed? i cant chose it and i dont found something related in the wiki. (9) i would like to see a history of the daily reports, or a tool were i could save some text to make it easier to remember important information. (10) i would also like a history of the rank bord or attached to every player too make it possible to see the development of a player. (I totaly understand if you dont want to make it to easy to get those informations, i m just thinking about the possiblity)
Hi Os and thanks for your detailed feedback I must say that after I finished my course my motivation to keep tuning cb went a bit down along the number of players (first games i had over 40). I like designing rules that create a competitive environment so I like games both playing and designing. CB lacks a lot of features that would it allow it to be at a commercial stage like UI design, code sturdiness, details like "login with fb" stuff, in which I don't have experience so I'm learning from practically 0. My first focus was that the game worked and it would be interesting, and just after 2 years of IT studying I'm somewhat satisfied. About your feedback points, many of them I considered already but find out I don't know how to implement or it would take much time to research and I focused in something else (like (4) message system which remains unchanged from start, or (6) server time and counter to next turn, where I spent many hours already exploring jscript and php options and still didn't manage to find a solution that would satisfy me, or addind (3) tooltips which I for sure will have to do at some point ). Also (2) navigation is pretty bad specially in smartphones... but my rudimentary skills don't allow me to improve it much atm About (5) both sk and army determine success rate and since you have to consider both I don't see very useful to sort by SK , although wouldn't be hard to do (1) black market is already sorted by type, and there are many types atm (and will increase) so I don't feel like it needs a button for each type to sort them since it would fill the screen furthermore (7) I don't understand. You mean picture? If that is the case I'm aware of it happening in some browser. Can u tell me which OS and browser you use? (I can dig on it but is hard cause it works fine in my browser...) (8) some actions you cannot perform while you are in debt. If you couldn't perform it and u had gold and typed target right that would be a bug that needs fixing, please confirm it (9) domestic reports are not stored anywhere atm. I use a very light weight server (which a teacher let's me use for the time being) and I don't know if it could handle that memory usage should the number of players was the number I would like too. (hard to make server stress tests with such low number of players). Adding a button to save reports as txt is something I didn't consider at all! Do you feel that would be useful? (10) u mean like a position graph? If that is the case I like graphs too xD It needs some work though Also currently I'm abroad in Japan studying the language and the time I have to handle the game is limited. Should I have hundreds of players I would find extra motivation but atm is running on fumes I'm afraid Anyway I would like to thank you for your detailed feedback again, and I'm very glad you enjoyed what has been hundreds of hours of amateur work xD Xavi
hi Neuromanc, i understand your motivational problem but i think it has a good concept and is worth the effort i think this features like fb etc are not very important yet. I think the navigation is the task to focus, to improve the game. I even think the look of the page is quite nice^^ How much storage space do you have on the server? i think (4) is something for later. (6) saddly i dont know much about php but i would like to offer you some help. What is "a solution that would satisfy you" like? (3) i once worked with javascript and i just remember tool tips as a short task. (I offer you my help ) (2) i would say just a few buttons added would improve it allready much. Like a button to get to the wiki. (I could try which buttons would be nice) (5) my argument is the same as yours, both is important so i would like to have the possibility to sort it by sk (1) allright (7) here is a screen shot. maybe this makes it clearer. But not so important. (8) ah ok (9) yeah i think (or would there be a posibility to sent the reports as mails?) (10) yeah, a graph or a table about land, sk, cb ... Casus Belli restarting today! It has been improved in the last few months with new devotion, mechanics, etc.. All thanks to the feedback of the stalwart players But looking for more!
